There was no one with little league experience on the previous board and that got us to where we are now…I think if you stop for a second and look at their Business credentials you might be surprised....what has being a women got to do with it....

Which is why they are recruiting a GM of Football operations....the Board handles the business direction of the Club...The GM handles the football side....smart move IMO..

You will never please everyone i suppose.

GOT NO PROBS WITH WOMEN BEEN ON THE BOARD JUST IRKS ME THAT THEY CANT GO AHEAD UNTIL THEY HAVE ONE , DO WOMEN HAVE MEN ON THERE NETBALL BORADS I WONDER OR OTHER FEMALE RELATED SPORTS.
SORE CAPS WAS ON.

Take 5 minutes and calm down. Look where having the current board got us…change can only be a good thing for this club.

how the hell can the club recover with 2 women with no league experience on the board , I would have thought we needed as much experience as possible, this is crazy.

I think you'll find we've got 4 of 5 board members without any football experience. Not exactly the best position to be in when we've are biggest problems are football related….

You guys will just find anything to complain about…

And you're probably too naive/stubborn to question anything. Just because Mayer or Bailey says it's good doesn't mean it is, in fact on form it's probably the opposite.

Footy clubs these days are a business first sporting club second, these people are to make the business healthy, the proposed G M football operations will look after on field stuff, give them a bit of time to do their stuff !

We support equal opportunities here at the WT's. I just hope the lady appointed was appointed for being competent rather than out of political correctness. If WTfl1981's criteria is correct, it doesn't sound like it though.

About time I say congratulations to all our new Board Members and welcome to our club , what a positive day the 5th of September 2014 is for the Weststigers .
Football today is a multi million dollar business and with that in mind you need people at the top with the knowledge to run the business in a successful manner .I find the sexism that is being thrown around very distasteful we have new people on the board hopeful with the best interests of the club at heart.
Henry Ford did not know the front end of a car from the rear but he was a brilliant business man and surrounded himself with people that did know ..we all know where that ended up …let every body give these new members time to prove themselves and please leave the sexism where it belongs back in the 60,s.

Given our financial issues, I really thought someone with Financial experience (e.g from banking) would have been in there somewhere.

Early days but I'm positive about how it looks like the shape of the club structure is heading. I'd really like to see an organisational chart for the club outlining responsibility areas for different positions, especially in operations, especially in the strength and conditioning side of things. Anyway hope for the future.

Fantastic news!
A turning point in the club's history and one that will pay huge dividends.
The board will make decisions that will hurt everyone, but they will make them wisely and with nothing but the success of the club as its priority.

Dont know why that would be an issue? Plenty of the games best administrators never laced a boot. They have a football club full of "experts" to give advice from a football point of view. At least know we have the business knowledge to provide a strong foundation.

You don't take sand to the beach.

This is all good news.

Our biggest problems in the past and at present aren't footy related, they're business related. We have no money, few sponsors, few 3rd party offers, poor facilities and inadequate staff.

These are business related decisions and we need people who can make smart business moves in the best interests of the company. They don't really need to know much about footy.

In the past we've had way too many former players or people who are just well known taking board positions. That get's us into the mess we're in.

As has been stated, the new incoming GM will look after all things footy and feed these into the board. The CEO will handle things on a higher level, and not be so involved in the day to day stuff. Proper separation and delegation of duties rather than one person wearing many hats.

Oh and how did Mayer lie about anything? He wasn't appointing the board members and would have had absolutely nothing to do with it's composition. If anyone lied about anything, it was the NRL.

Stubborn. Ha that's the pot calling kettle black. New board in one day and your already writing them off. What makes you the expert. Give them a chance before you judge

So Mayer lied again

He said we were having issues finalizing the board because we were struggling to find a woman wanting to join

And now we have two women

I don't have an issue with the fact we have two women , but obviously Mayer was trying to cover up the delay

Or the board has been in place for a while already , and that's why we have had things happening as in the GM advertisement and the potential releasing of the five players

All we ask is honesty , now lets hope the first decision the board makes is to sack the devious BSing CEO

Or they were initially struggling to find a female and things changed?

_Posted using RoarFEED V.4_

Then it means he was even being more misleading

He said it was the only thing holding up the process

They had someone and she knocked them back in the end

I don't know why people see this as a bad thing.
The board will now focus solely on running the club as a business as they should, instead of trying to run the physical football aspect as well.
I think it's a clear division of business administration and football operations. Which we've desperately needed for a long time.

I don't know how old you are bp or what knowledge you may or may not have re running a business, however, in respect to your postings, you need to grow up.

Your example wasn't chosen wisely. The Board of Netball Australia is one of the most impressive in World Sport. The breadth and depth of their commercial, legal and management experience is just about unequalled. I never want to see another Board, be it the Wests Tigers, Balmain or the Magpies with names like Leo, Hobbs, Bailey, Di Girolamo et al. These meat tray sellers, quasi celebrities, fanboys, starstruck lawyers and ex players are chief among the reasons we now see this Club with a toxic and dysfunctional atmosphere

A landmark day for our club …. Wonderful news and wish the new board every success. This will go a long way towards ensuring the professionalism and business efficiency of our club at the highest level.
Something that was sorely found wanting under the previous administration. It remains to be seen now if Mayer is in their plans moving forward as well as Potter ... Both are board appointees.

A great day for Wests Tigers ... A turning point in our history
