New chairperson?

I'm on board with the Wayne Pearce idea, as i have mentioned before.

There aren't many people who have the same level of respect across the entire code that Junior does. He has corporate exeperience, sits on the NRL Commission, and obviously has a deep connection with the club, being our inaugural coach.

We can do alot worse than him anyway.

It may even shut Benny, Blocker and Sirro up, as they may have second thoughts about bagging out their old skipper.

We need a respected hard nosed business person to head the board. Go doesn't have the authority or required business acumen to steer this ship. Even though I'm from the Balmain side I don't want anyone associated with our tragic history anywhere near the joint venture.

Roach and Benny will say whatever they think makes them relevant. I don't even think Junior would be exempt from their BS.

I think the fact that the old boys club are up in arms means that the board has done their job in building a foundation that rewards performance and not connections.

I think criticism is unfair. These guys came in through a very dire situation with finances. It was never going to be a quick fix and one that obviously effected our football team. You only need to look at the ins/outs to see how bad it was.

We need to ensure we reward the right behaviours, not basing decisions purely on immediate outcomes. Otherwise we'll be back in the same mess before we know it.

The Chairperson is only 1 vote on the board. The board as a whole set the direction of the organisation.
The CEO (Pascoe) carry out the orders of the board, which should be guided by Pascoe. The CEO is the most important person in the organisation.
Look at the Sharks under the guidance of there CEO Lyle Gorman (The brains behind Western Sydney Wanderers), their chairman is only an ex basketballer Damien Keogh.

AGREE! I love Benny but Benny loves a headline. I love Blocker too. He's passionate but often that overrides common sense.

You are right Marina should go, get someone who at least has some sporting background along with the business credentials.

X2

Know anyone? It's not that easy. Firstly to actually find someone who fits that criteria and then to attract them to a club that has a history of dysfunction at board level.

My Managing Director has no idea how to use our computer system but surrounds himself with subject matter experts…... There's something in that.

Andrew Webster's article is a pile of rubbish, he's just taking pot-shots at everyone. Yes if you burn the coach there are a lot of people to blame: the players, the CEO, the board, lots of heads. Nobody turfs a coach mid-contract for fun.

Next club to sack their coach, the same argument exists against all the organisation's key employees. Problem for Tigers is we don't have the runs on the board for respect in the media.

He's also treading the old mistaken line - Potter was never sacked, he was not renewed and that's a big difference. So this is the 2nd sacked coach.

IMO I think so many people underestimate how well Tim Sheens managed the background ops of Tigers, all the board and CEO nonsense. He didn't always get results but this back-office instability wasn't a real issue or impact on performance during his tenure. Even removing some stalwarts like Gibbs, Heighno and Beau Ryan was much easier to digest the way Sheens went about it, the command he had on the situation.

Obviously the next coach needs to be of super calibre, he needs to produce on-field results but also manage the off-field very well, which Taylor seems not to have either.

As if the Wests group who is funding this JV will give up its board members.
The move to sack Taylor is a good one as he failed to execute his ideas re defence and after the board gave him room to move on Farah and he got the team he wanted and this years performance seems to mirror last he had to go,
Nice and early with hopes still for this year.

Interesting too watching Elias on NRL 360 last night.
After that maybe the should consider drug and alcohol testing for TV shows and their guests.

Just realised the journo and our interim coach have the same name. That's gonna be fun. I was already annoyed with the Taylor / Taylor name at the club.

Ok try and find.someone with business and sport who hasn't heard of us, that'd help

Toovey had a business background, he from memory is an accountant, he could do the job and if the coach fails take over that

Since Wests own the joint the next chairman has to be from Wests. It's about time Wests got the acknowledgment for the money that they have been putting into the club. Without Wests there would be no Tigers. Long live the Pies!

You know that Wests installed Go as chair after the Board restructure right..

Wasn't it Smith ….. or did Smith just make her part of the board in the first place

Learn your history..Originally elected to the board by Wests and Balmain delegates on the recommendations from 9 candidates put forward by the NRL..

Re-appointed to Chair when Wests Ashfield took 75% ownership of the Wests Tigers…

The entire board needs to go!!!!
They can't be trusted to make the right decisions, it's quite clear.

They let the Farah and Taylor drama go on and disrupt our entire season only to eventually give our club legend the boot, now only three games into the season they're flicking the coach.

Why didn't they just flick Taylor last year?

Now we're paying Farah a ridiculous chunk of our cap while he's playing against us and we are looking for a new coach anyway.
We have 4 of our most important players all holding off on signing until they know who the new coach is.

The place is a circus

The fact that our CEO used the phrase "the big 4" is alarming as well IMO. Deluded club from the top down it seems.

Was thinking the same thing. No room for JT on that pedestal it would appear.

I cringed when he said that. The original big 4 were Smith, Cronk, Inglis and Slater. Thats an accolade earned by those players after excelling at all forms of the game, including finals series. At least 2 of them should be immortals one day and the other two are right up there. Our 'big 4' do not compare. Especially because our 'big 4' are not the 4 best players in the club, merely the most expensive. Labeling them as such gives them more negotiating power.

Did you watch it or just listen?? He gestured with his hands to indicate quotation marks when referring to "the big four". I thought he made it clear he was simply parroting the expression the press has coined for simplicity and not annointing them as such.
