New coach.. Who should we target?

Not sure if Bennett is the best coach going around but if he could bring two good forwards and one or two good backs with him…that would be us in a great position to head into 2019\. Just hope it happens quickly.

It has to happen for next season imo ,the worst thing for the club would be next season turning into a waiting period for a coaching change …surely if the rumblings are true about Cleary going to Penrith they would throw everything at signing him for next season .
Penrith are in the window right at the moment to win a premiership not in two years time ,Penrith are the key in all of this if they want there man it will happen now .Cleary is done at the Tigers and Brisbane is done with Bennett come on GOULd show us the money!

Bennett or madge doesn't bother me who it is, both are upgrades to Ivan imo.

Couldn’t agree more. We need someone who wants to be here. The only reason Ivan is still around is because legally he has to be and to me that is detrimental to our team. Imagine Bennett comes with Pangai junior, now wouldnt that be nice.

Very nice

WT’s were asked by who? Kind of an important detail that’s completely glossed over. Could have been asked by a journo, or a supporter for all we know.

Ahaha can’t believe we are linked with Bennett. 10 years ago it would of been a dream to sign him.. now you have to think is he passed his best?

Still could help with our junior development. Look what he did with the Knights.. they are in a good space with their junior system

Bennett would be a massive signing for the club on the condition the club control the salary cap. As long as Bennett has an understanding of building for long term success that would be perfect. The only issue would be his age though. Just as long as we dont end up like newcastle trying to jag a premiership in a 3 year window then having a ruined salary cap for 5 years again like Sheens.

I think he is saying the management company is trying to do a deal.

"Cleary and Bennett are managed by the same company — SFX Sports — and it is understood the Tigers have already been approached about whether they would consider signing the Brisbane coach in a move that would allow Cleary to leave at the end of next season."

Just a thought Broncs players off contract:
2018: Pangai Jr, Oates, Lodge, Mago
2019: Ofehengaue
2020: Fifita, Staggs, Sua

A total rebuild could be done by next offseason if Wayne still has the pull.

1\. Mbye
2\. Oates
3\. Staggs
4\. Marsters
5\. Nofaluma
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Packer
9\. Liddle
10\. Lodge
11\. Pangai Jr
12\. Fifita
13\. Matterson
14\. Ofehengaue
15\. Mago
16\. Matulino
17\. Lawrence

WTs need to dig in here and require players from the Broncs since we are helping that club out. Cleary's departure should also come with players from the Panthers since we are helping that club as well.

If Bennett did come I’d hope he could work well with Brett Hodgson as an assistant coach.
Bennett ( over the last year or so) hasn’t got on well the the A.C’s at the Broncos.
Also I thought Ivan did well last pre season getting the likes of Brooks, Lawrence, Marsters all pretty fit. So I don’t think our S&C guys need changing either.

That’s quite a list of talent coming off contract at the Broncos over the next couple of years.
I know the team list is based on what could be possible at best case but I dont think Ofehengaue would come to play off the bench. Also I wouldn’t be leaving Twal out.

We have better resources/governance so it would not happen to that extent anymore.

Also bennetts time at knights would of been hampered by tinkler correct? There were reports he was not paying the players.

Whatever happens needs to happen sooner rather than later Bennett for two/three years would be good excellent coach not only for the players but for Brett Hodgson what better teacher could you have . Also as Ivans mind seems to be elsewhere he becomes more a liability than an asset as things drag on

I'll take Cleary over Madge any day.

In fact I'd take just about anyone over Souffs rejects.

The same Madge that won Souths a premiership a few years ago?

I was waiting for that answer.

Where were the follow ups????

Where were all the clubs lining up to sign him????

If Cleary goes, it has to be Bennett. He has the profile to attract and retain players. He is also a premiership winning coach., Maguire to me is not a good fit for our club.
