New coach.. Who should we target?

Im not convinced of the ability of either Bennett or Madge to coach from a low base as they would at the Tigers. I lean towards Bennett because we have only seen Madge succeed with a team playing a very particular style with a monster pack that suited that style. With Bennett, he has over the years adopted many different styles of play to suit his roster and that would suit the Tigers, not to mention the pull he would have with attracting potential players.

The only sticking point I see is Ciraldo….I know Gus has said he will coach Penrith next year but Gus speak with forked tongue....whats the situation at penrith?

Bennett ..if true..would be this clubs biggest signature ever

The bigger sticking point I see is who coaches Brisbane next year? I could see brisbane sticking in for 12 months with Bennett to pick up someone then.

Just a thought Broncs players off contract:
2018: Pangai Jr, Oates, Lodge, Mago
2019: Ofehengaue
2020: Fifita, Staggs, Sua

A total rebuild could be done by next offseason if Wayne still has the pull.

1\. Mbye
2\. Oates
3\. Staggs
4\. Marsters
5\. Nofaluma
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Packer
9\. Liddle
10\. Lodge
11\. Pangai Jr
12\. Fifita
13\. Matterson
14\. Ofehengaue
15\. Mago
16\. Matulino
17\. Lawrence

and then all the fairies walked in. :unamused:

Lol I was thinking the same thing! Hell of a team, but there is no way we will ever see all those guys in our colours.

WT’s were asked by who? Kind of an important detail that’s completely glossed over. Could have been asked by a journo, or a supporter for all we know.

Was wondering about that too and whoever they are have they even asked Bennett if he would like to come here and coach us? Very strange article, which is most likely just speculation feeding off the unsettled coaching scenarios at both clubs.

Its pretty clear in that article that its Bennett's (and Clearys) management.

With the resources and roster at their disposal they should be able to pick whoever they want

The fact Cleary's management company is suggesting this really brings it home that he does not wish to be at the WTs.

That stood out to me as well. If this story is even half correct it is the first confirmation that Cleary is looking to get out early

But who is available? Maybe Maguire?

Please make it happen Tigers, I feel Bennett has unfinished business and will definitely attract quality players with him.

The stars are aligning. Somehow we've ended up where our so-so coach wants out and a premiership winning coach wants in.

I hope they don't over think this.

I have confidence in Pascoe here but the sticking points I see would be

* The funds to afford Bennett, probably the highest paid coach behind Bellamy whereas we have always shopped Aldi
\

* The funds to support Bennett who is accustomed to as much of whatever he wants and the best of what he wants
\

* Brisbane finding a suitable replacement for next year
\

* of course Bennett wanting to come here

I would be excited if we got Bennett. Even at his age and stage of his career, it would be the most significant thing the club has done.

I'm not buying into this speculation but to answer your question, Walters is available now.

Actually that would make a lot of sense. A professional club like Brisbane would have a guy lined up already, especially with all the speculation during the season. Walters would be a ready made replacement although they may want Bennett to hang in for one more year to snap up Seibold for 2020.

I still get the feeling all this hoohaa about Bennett coming is going to end up kicking the Tigers in the guts again with statements eventually made by said coach insinuating we aren't a premiership force, dont have the funds, resources, staff, sponsorship yadada.

Col is totally buying into this speculation…

I don’t think Bennett will come here for the money. If he does come here he will see it as a challenge to take a team who hasn’t played semis for like a hundred years(feels like it) to the semis and show everyone that he still has a few years left in him.

I see it playing out like this hopefully
- Bennett to the tigers
- Madge or Walters to broncos
- Cleary to panthers

If we can’t make it happen for 2019 then 2020.

Col will bring us the latest Facebook updates and other social media tidbits.

This has to happen now before training begins again.
I don't want another season of garbage with Cleary here when his heart is somewhere else.
Make the change now. Not after another season of plod.

Not a fan of Bennett…..

but

I have heard from a source (reliability untested but internal at the Penrith Club) that Cleary's exit will be announced on or after November 1st and will be immediate. Apparently that's when the contracts roll over and Penrith are willing to payout a clean cut 2 years remaining and not 2 years and a bit....

If that is correct, it will give my source credence. If not, sounds like another guess. There was no info about Tigers coach to replace Cleary but with the source, I didnt expect there would be.
