New Junior Rules

I don't know if many realize but they are changing some of the junior rules again

They have gotten rid of kick offs for starters

Probably the most interesting rule change is within the hooker and half

We must be looking at driving hookers from the game

Now the Hooker and First receiver must stay the same for a whole half and can't change barring injury

Supposedly when kids are getting to 17/18 they won't run , they always pass

So the new rule is this ,the Hooker and first receiver wear bibs and they can now run from dummy half and first receiver and can get caught with the ball without a turnover

Its a good rule I reckon

But they could of come up with a better bib for the Hookers

It is marked DH  and the first receiver is FR

WTF???

Where did you get this from?

Just came out early this week Watto , we had a parent night on Tuesday going through all the jersey washing rosters , fruit roster ,Townsville Laurie Spina Cup and the new rules changes

I will try and post the email I got if I can blur out the names

oh… Your OP talks about kids at 17/18?

No they are concerned that the kids playing hooker and first receiver have stopped running the ball very noticeably at 17/18 age groups mate

Trying to delete the names on the email , I will post it if I can

Why would it be a handover if the dummy half or first receiver gets tackled? What sort of crap is that? Ridiculous!

It stops the wanna be jarryd Haynes becoming ball hogs , that way every kid gets a fair go .

That's been the rule from u6s to U11s since 1982\. It doesn't promote kids showing initiative and having a scoot themselves. It's a great change and so is having the team conceding a try tapping the ball off instead of a kick off. I coach U8s and we went undefeated last year but I still would rather a weaker team at least retaining some sort of possession during the game.

I'm not happy with the no kick off rule .. That's ridiculous IMO .
That's my pet hate with Rugby League , the constant friggin rule changes !

Hobbo , I think you still kick off for the start of the game and after half time

They did on Wednesday still , but after the opposition scored they went back to half way for a tap

Helped my young fella out He looked good smashing it up from the tap

But it meant they got touched up though lol
