Interesting - got this off the NRL.com Website.

_The signings of Sam Tagataese and Jeff Robson may not be the end of the good news for long-suffering Cronulla fans with the NRL club hopeful of completing deals for Bryce Gibbs and Andrew Fifita this week.\
\
The Sharks have tabled offers for the Wests Tigers props, and although the pair has yet to formally agree on a switch to Toyota Stadium, the club is anticipating news of their arrival before the weekend.\
\
A Sharks official told AAP the deals could be done this week but said there were still issues to resolve before an official announcement._

_New Zealand-born Tagataese, who can play at centre or in the backrow and started his career with Melbourne, joined the Sharks from Gold Coast on Tuesday and was named on an extended bench for Sunday's clash with Canterbury at ANZ Stadium.\
\
Halfback Robson, who helped guide Parramatta to the 2009 grand final, will depart the Eels at the end of the season after agreeing terms on a two-year contract with the Sharks.\
\
The acquisitions of Tagataese and Robson come hot on the heels of young stars Stewart Mills, Albert Kelly and Chad Townsend agreeing to extend their contracts in recent weeks.\
\
The Sharks, who have lost front-rowers Luke Douglas and Kade Snowden to the Titans and Newcastle respectively, have also been linked with another Tigers player.\
\
**Utility back Mitch Brown is believed to be a target for the club he left last season.**_

Wow, thats a new one -

Dean Collis must be cutting his wrists as we speak…. He'd prob be in a tigers jersey right now if he had not have left....

Also, why can't he get a run for the sharks??

Looks like we'll be fielding a vastly changed squad next year.

Will it be new and improved? To be honest I have my doubts…

In all honesty a change is good as not much has changed since 06,we re just a little more consistent

How ironic the salary cap was introduced to protect teams like the tigers and now its going to bites us on the b.m. It has taken us a long time to get a forward pack that can compete and now we have to let it go. Blair is a good player but he cant replace half the pack

Actually the salary cap was to protect teams from going broke and was brought in after Canberra nearly went under. When you say "protect teams like the Tigers" you mean a team that has recently bought/resigned Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah, Lote Tuquiri, Gareth Ellis, Chris Lawrence, Adam Blair(?). Add to that upgrades and it is EXACTLY the kind of purchasing that if any other clubs had done, we would be pointing the finger.

I mean, brown isn't such a loss, however he'd have bumped his own value up over the past 18 months by putting in some solid games. Im hoping that all this is leading to something/someone(s) big….

Glennb–my point was not anti salary cap, my point was the cap was introduced to protect the poorer clubs from the wealthy predators and also to protect clubs from theself. By that I mean, not letting the poorer clubs try and spend their way up the ladder with money they did not have.

Your also right, I would be asking questions if another club could squeeze so many good players into their roster without loosing any quality players. My point was it was not long ago we could not even afford to spend up to the cap limit and we were a struggling club and now like most strong clubs we have all the salary cap issue that go with being strong.

What even happens we will be still a strong club come 2012

Brown is a massive loss, no doubt about it.
Would be a good addition for any team and deserves a start every week.
Will be missed.

Brought it up in a thread yesterday . If you leave people in the lurch you don't give them much option . No doubt Brown thought to himself "this club is too worried about everything else and not me " . Good player , hate to see him go But he deserves better . Daniela must now become a priority unless someone we don't know about is coming

Don't count on Daniela being re-signed either.

Neither Brown or Daniella (although especially Daniella) are starting players at the Wests Tigers at full strength - given that if they can play first grade elsewhere then best of luck to both of them. Brown was a great first reserve outside back and as an ex shark I am not surprised. Strange though as I see him as his best position Fullback and he won't be playing their at the sharks either

I feel most sorry for Daniella in that case.

He will be out for most of the year. Hasn't put a foot wrong when he has played for us, punched above his weight in defense (contained inglis for approx half the match in the 30-6 win vs souths, after changing sides with ayshford) been the usual light on his feet and quick in attack. Been a really good depth player.

However, he will now be off contract,

sees the tigers are buying/shuffling players,

and unfortunately prob won't get picked up for any more than minimums at another club.

At least with Brown if he goes back to the sharks will probably be on a better wicket $$$ wise over there.

But jeez, they have Dean Collis in reggies as well I mean, do they have a clue over there?

Gee the cupboard looks bare for the outside backs Look at how long some of them have been out injured for this year alone . Have you heard any solid gossip Willow about any outside backs coming ???

Can't help thinking Blair was signed a long time ago. Probably before the Tigers were found in breach of the salary cap by the NRL (albeit for miscalculating Farah and Gibbs loyalty credits status as junior players). Now they are struggling badly to come under for next year. We all know what madness it is to be letting Fifita go but even Gibbs is playing better football than I have ever seen him play. Can't say Adam Blair is a player that has ever stood out for me but I will start to watch him with interest. Mitch Brown has given excellent service and deserves a start in first grade wherever that may be. Still dreading the loss of Jake Mullaney as opportunity for him seems to be limited at the Tigers. Interesting and disturbing times in Tiger town.

It was brought in to protect clubs like Cronulla going way over the top and paying ridiculous amounts year after year - considering their financial position it hasn't worked and they haven't learnt a thing!!!

you are right about Mullaney, not many people have been mentioning him these days after a flurry of interest two years ago
