Looks to be a good revenue raiser for the council.

Rates wouldn't be cheap for the units let alone the leagues club
Come on council, let it be.

Whilst the shading would have effected more residential properties, the taller towers would not seem nearly as tall if placed on the downhill area of the steepish site.

Less wanky views to sell that way

No doubt, but don't they stick out like disguised swearing nearer the top of the hill. Old Balmain supporter wanting a club rebuilt, but not at the cost of totally ruining the skyline with a structure that will stand out from a distance in all directions.

Baldwin fans wouldn't care… Local residents would... And people like me that find these new developments ugly cheap nasty and defect filled

There are some really great developments around the area (Lilyfield Rd + Union Balmain), but this looks not up to the same standard. Hopefully they publish some decent renderings to get a clearer picture.

I'm concerned that the developer now will be saving costs where he can to try to get back some of the money he has lost, resulting in something pretty cheap and nasty.

Another thing to note, the council per-approval circus where they decided what they would accept, was a building between 6-8 stories.

This looks more like 11-12…. developer is pushing the envelope a bit again. It's not going to be a friendly reaction from the greenies/labor council.

Compared to what is there now?

My understanding is that overpass over Victoria Rd had a lot to do with why the original submissions also failed. Club needs council ok to disrupt the traffic an put a footprint on the Balmain side of the street.
