Will be a good test to how we are tracking.
It won't be easy but we must start well, they are a momentum team. It's a winnable game but it's also one we could get thumped.

Bradman Best worries me. He’s a powerful and skillful unit. Based on last weeks game he’ll score every time he gets the ball 15 meters out. I wish we had him in our team.

Best beats his centre one on one with a speed or fend. Roberts makes poor decisions but doesn't tend to get beaten one on one. I'm a lot more worried about Gagai. A relative newbie against a seasoned pro. Kelma and Gildart will be forced to make a lot of decisions.

I really want to like Gildart but based on what we’ve seen in the trials and the opening match so far, his reads in defense make him look like he’s never played centre before. I hope he improves fast.

I’m far from convinced Newcastle is actually a good team, but they have a lot of very good individual players. I reckon they’ll have plenty of good days out and probably as many bad ones in 2022. Let’s hope this weekend is a bad one for them.

Ponga with a screwed knee, not a peep from media, brooks and maumalo managing workloads ... "stars could be out for tigers".
