Next seasons prospects

Its all about cap management

Yes its important to have a good junior base but it is also necessary to bring players in from the outside

They bring different ideas from different clubs which is also important

You won't keep every talented junior you have , look at what's about to happen with Te Maire and in the past Fifita

You just have to hope you keep the best that suit the club the best in the long run

Is it cap management or Third party management ?
We must be the only team in the league that tries to complete solely under the cap. I have no idea of the workings of the cap but with our squad compared to that of the Rooster, Bulldogs any other of the club for that matter we are just so far behind its beyond a joke.
Supposedly the club can't chase TPD's but you can't tell me other clubs aren't senting them up with player agents. Having said that surely Mr Meriton has some friends he could talk to.
Until we learn how to get better TPD's we are screwed.

What is new - nothing.

We are only half way through this season - lets get through this one first. Far too early imo to be talking about next year. As rex2ce said above with 3 NRL and 2 wests board members, we could be in Perth as the Ironmongers next year or the year after and we won't have to worry about it.

I am placing more importance on what is happening this year. I still see a lot of positives, most of the young blokes are coming on (don't agree with Lovett), agree we need a couple of experienced players for next year (as we know there isn't any coin - end of thought), Rocks and diamonds will continue - that is the way it is going to be.

Why do we keep rehashing the same threads all the time.

I get the frustration, the dissatisfaction, the dislike for JT and certain players - how about we have a permanent "Frustration" thread where everyone so disposed can dump their crap and then for anyone not interested in that they can read all the other threads. Next years problems solved straight away.

Maybe we should have a special thread just for your posts Russell?? A place you can dump your "crap"… If you don't like what other people post, don't read them. Simple really. 😕
This is a WT Forrum after all. 😕

Yes it is. Full of crap, misinformation, speculation, rumours, frustrated opinions, non-understanding about how a club or a coach works etc etc.

Crap is right.

I am sure that Barry O'Farell as CEO would attract a lot of help in this area.

I agree with your post Tigermama. Russell certainly does not believe in forward planning. It is ironic that most of Russell's posts are in fact quite negative.

I agree with you Paws, we need to stay positive about our future. We have a lot of young talent in the club, forwards AND backs, and many of these players need time to mature, gain confidence and become fully established in the NRL. This season was always going to be a year of development and, the team, a work in progress. Of course, this meant rocks and diamonds and the fans who expected to make the eight, let alone the top four, were delusional. Taylor also needs time to develop the best combinations, devise the best strategies and settle on the strongest roster. Many teams would envy our talent base. We were never going to match the polish of the Manly halves pairing on Friday but we competed and this shows that the spirit within the club is strong. We are heading in the right direction but have to accept that we don't have the big dollars to hasten the process via player recruitment.

Sounds like our Mission Statement!

Great post. I have no doubt we are in good hands.

I try and distance myself from negativity Newtown…

Lots of excuses floating around.

Putting this simply we showed against Souths what we can do, the only reason we are not doing it more often is the lack of accountability.

This year isnt about results, even the coach is on record as saying the results arent important.

I dont blame the players i believe they are being very badly managed.

What about this season? We're halfway through the season and two wins out of the eight. How about we all focus on that before worrying about next year?

That is the inherent problem with this club, always looking to next year. No wonder we're perennial underachievers. After years of administration telling the fan base that we're "building to next year," it's finally ingrained in the supporter base psyche as well.

It would be nice for a change to look at the present before the horse has bolted.

There was a comment JT made, that concerned me at the press conference after the game.
He said that "Training this week wasn't as sharp or intense as it was last weeks training for the Bunnies game" The boys had a skip to their step and were on a high after the win so the coaching staff didn't push them to train as hard. What the ??????
Then he goes on to say that " We now learned that to be a competitive team we have to train hard every week. Dahhh.. I would've thought JT knew that allready

I agree with others we have a lot of young players and one would think are going to get better with experience, but their are players also who have either stagnated or gone backwards so I can not see how in a years time they will out of the blue become NRL standard players.

Without having the capacity to recruit the odd quality player to show our kids the way and put pressure on a host of under achieving players it is hard to see things changing.

From where I sit without the introduction of possibly two or three NRL standard players into the 17 we will be bottom four without doubt and it seems pretty clear that we are not in the hunt for any decent signings

You're right but sadly this year is as good as gone. Not necessarily on the ladder but by how we are playing. It's horrendous.
Unless we make marquee signings then next year will be as bad as this. I'm looking forward to 2018.

Bothers me too Tigermama, just too many incident where we are meant to give Taylor or the club the benefit of the doubt.

Its looking more and more likely that an average football club has hired your stock standard average coach.

TITG, let's hope the team trains the house down this week and gets the win against the Panthers! :supporter:

We are currently 4th-last, there are not many further places to slip down.

Tigers certainly have a long-term plan, these are professional football coaches and administrators. None of us are truly privy to what the plan is.

Will the plan work? If you know for sure, put your money where your mouth is, and let the rest of us know the future so we can cash in too.

The question is, has this plan been forced upon them by lack of cash and resources and has Taylor been asked to perform a miracle?????
