Our kick chase of our bombs, didn't happen. The Sharks were ruthless and put pressure on our back three which led to two crucial errors. I watched our team and believed is a strategy we do not contest the ball and try and hold a defensive line in case of a counter attack. A case of trying not to lose a game rather than winning it.

Hynes gave our halves a kicking lesson, unlike our kicks, his were high and gave his runners plenty of time to apply pressure. The ref could have penalised those runners for being too quick a couple of times, but our guys were safe from the whistle.

There won't be too many changes other than to deal with injuries and to slot returning players such as Hastings back in with maybe a couple of positional switches to trial different options. Our reserve grade is just as bad, if not worse, than the firsts. No-one is putting pressure on from below. It really is a dire situation that only major surgery can repair.

Next weeks team will be like every other weeks team
Let’s hope Hastings will be fired up after sitting & watching the circus from the sidelines for the last 3 weeks
The poor bloke even forked out from his own pocket to support the team on the Gold Coast so hopefully he’ll be fired up

9-Hastings

I wouldn't do this but at least it's trying something.

For mine:-

1. Laurie - if he isn't available go with To'a. You could try Brooks here as well.
6. Peachey
7. Hastings
9. Brooks - if no Brooks Liddle but you need Simpkin on the bench.

We can't keep playing the spine that we've been playing. They clearly aren't up to it.

Changes are required across the team... but main changes that have to happen now in my opinion are in the spine area.

1. Laurie (with the same heart he had last season... if not bring in the young bloke Dillon)
6. Hastings (only one showing heart)
7. Madden (kid has a football IQ... we would have won against GC if ball went to him rather than Brooks on our last possesion)
9. Brooks (no doubt he has talent, just no football IQ so therefore he is not a halfback... this move will have an effect similar to Ben Hunt who is going pretty good these days)

14. Rua (get the kid in there... even if he only plays 20 mins)

Doueihi obviously comes into the team when fit, position depends on who is playing well or not (we all know he can play 6, 1 or centres)

For my suggestion Hastings wouldn’t play more than 20mins at Hooker, he would go to Lock at first forward rotation.
We both agree though, a change to the spine is required in some way.

Our kick chase will never happen because we have brooks the flop as our halfback. 1/10 kicks gives our chasers a chance. When we kick to maumola and the ball ends up on the tryline he will score. But brooks is brain dead as a halfback. No idea whatsoever.

Our next game will be the biggest embarrassment of the season and it will get worse as the season progresses because the club bosses are domant. Why worry about the team for next week.

I thought our kicks from both halves yesterday were not bad and a couple had their fullback in trouble. The issue was we had no one chasing hard. Two times there were opportunities to score when their fullback misjudged the ball. I believe we have a strategy to hold a line in defence rather than attack the ball and that must be disheartening for players.
