Nice change isnt it?

Well done to Qld for winning the game, but for once it felt good to watch an origin game with minimal stress, knowing that no matter what we've got the series. Qld by far the better side on the night, and the steel in the NSW defence seemed to fall away late in the game, probably a little bit of complacency.

Struggle at the best of times to get interested in SOO, but it was no chance with me this week with Manly playing Wests on Friday.

Thankfully it's all over now - the SOO period is very, very boring.

I agree it affects the club footy in a big way , but I don't understand how people find it boring ??

i think he means club footy becomes boring.

probably best to have 3 standalone weeks with 1 week breaks of NRL in between them for SOO. get it all done with in 5 weeks not 2 months like it currently takes.

I think last year I said cronk is vey overrated and lacks the instincts to be a top shelf half. I stand corrected. Professionalism and desire trumps skills.

Nope - SOO is boring, especially this year. As a Wests fan, watching SOO to me is like watching a trial match between Brisbane and the South Sydney. Means nothing, result is forgotten in less than one week and I don't care who wins.

Then, I have to put up with having to watch State Cup matches disguised as NRL matches. Just rubbish.

Cronk is the best decision maker I have seen, he is an amazing organiser and feel his ability is often written off as being on the back of Cam Smith.

Cronk helps smith every bit as much as the reverse. Cronk runs the game at Melbourne and QLD, calls the structure for the set and the play by play.

He has plenty of skill, but never overplays his hand and doesnt go for trick shots.

Cronk is one of my all time favourite halves. Love him.

Maybe in the last coupe of years he has picked up his game to an all time great but I simply didn't see anything but a good kicking game in him before that. Or maybe I wasn't good enough to appreciate his work.

Really starting to like his work now though.

Complacency???? Wouldn't have anything to do with Qld having 69% possession throughout the match and the lopsided 11- 4 penalty count, would it? :unamused: Of course NSW fell away under the weight of all that - any team would. An 11-4 penalty count against a team in Origin is practically unheard of! When WT cop that many penalties against them we never hear the end of the bleating on here, yet this game defining stat in last night's match seems to have gone completely unnoticed by everyone, except me.

Not saying Qld weren't better, of course they were and they deserved to win, but the lopsided penalty count and weight of possession in Qld's favour made it impossible for NSW to compete for any sustained period and completely ruined the game, imo.

I thought the SOO series this year was dreadful. Games 1 & 2 were so boring I nearly turned both off. Taking out shoulder charges and the biff has reduced these games to a spectacle less important than club footy.

NSW showed terrific heart in defence with amazing displays of desperation. Unfortunately this was to the detriment of any semblance of attacking plans. Their hit and hope approach to the attack, aided by repeat sets got them over the line in game 2 but even the most one eyed would feel lucky they won. Game 3 was more open and QLD showed they havent lost their brilliance. However was NSW there mentally?

I really hope next years series is revamped in some way. This years series was one of the worst I have seen.

You mean that QLD get all the penalties and possession in all 3 games?(status quo)

No he means that Sheens by some freak of nature becomes SOO coach and picks Moltzen as halfback for NSW like he said in 2010
