“(The Tigers are a) big chance, because they’re the only club willing to pay his salary that he was getting at the Bulldogs,” Riccio said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“The Raiders won’t reach that $650,000 mark, but the Tigers are willing to go there with some additions payments being paid by the Bulldogs.

“It’ll be at centre, not on the wing, it’d be in the centres with the Wests Tigers.”

Tigers director of football Tim Sheens confirmed to Fox Sports that the club had met with Cotric, saying coach Michael Maguire likes what the flyer could add to the squad.

In response to those comments, club Chairman Lee Hagipantelis confirmed those talks and said discussions are ongoing with Cotric’s party.

“I saw the comments made publicly by our director of football Mr. Sheens,” Hagipantelis said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“He confirmed we have had discussions (with Nic) and the discussions continue

“So, there’s always a chance.”

Cotric began his career with the Raiders where he played 93 games between 2017 and 2020 before earning his move to Canterbury.

His season with the Bulldogs in 2021 was a down one with the winger scoring just three tries from 14 appearances.

Lee seeks the media, even for the smallest things.

Not Lee's biggest fan but He has a weekly segment on Sen. They were always going to ask him about it with sheens talking yesterday.

Cheers for clearing that up, as well as @jirskyr

I don’t listen to radio, or keep track on Lee, but it makes sense now.

I read this as Cotric will get $650.
The Tigers putting in more than Canberra (not sure what that number is) and Bulldogs putting in the balance to get to $650.

Even if he is coming for 450-500k it still means we are paying almost 1 million for 2 wingers. To me that is just a tragic waste of money

Nofo who still has a 4 year contract to run,so i don't see the club moving him on any time soon as it would cost us far too much

Signing Cotric will hopefully put some heat on TommyT nd AJ to really grow into our other top line centre.

Agree, I thought it was 'Official' as in an official signing thread

That’s usually the implication. It’s just clickbait otherwise.

Changed the Title until it is ratified by the club or a trusted Source.

There's a bit of sunk cost fallacy in this. I 100% agree we gave Nofoaluma a dud deal. But we can't undo that, and it shouldn't prevent us from spending the money it takes to improve our outside backs - clearly the area of greatest weakness in the squad as a whole.

There can't be many squads in the comp that don't have dead money somewhere on their roster - Penrith are premiers and it's been well documented that they were paying RCG and others to play elsewhere in 2021, for instance. If there isn't a cheap winger available to offset the overs we're giving to Nofo, well, we can either accept we're going to have to allocate more of the cap than we strictly ought to wingers or play a bad one.

Whether Cotric is worth 400-500k in and of himself is a different question: personally I'v never seen what the fuss is about, but better judges than I seem to rate him.

I dont think Lee Hi is an idiot. He is a very smart and Passionate Supporter like us.

He is quite measured in what he says and is doing his best to paint the WTs in a more positive light.

The SEN1170 Interviews are quite good and for mine I'd rather he not be as wooden as some others.

TBH, Im glad he is on our side and hope that he is actually involved in the shroud negotiating.
