“(The Tigers are a) big chance, because they’re the only club willing to pay his salary that he was getting at the Bulldogs,” Riccio said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“The Raiders won’t reach that $650,000 mark, but the Tigers are willing to go there with some additions payments being paid by the Bulldogs.

“It’ll be at centre, not on the wing, it’d be in the centres with the Wests Tigers.”

Tigers director of football Tim Sheens confirmed to Fox Sports that the club had met with Cotric, saying coach Michael Maguire likes what the flyer could add to the squad.

In response to those comments, club Chairman Lee Hagipantelis confirmed those talks and said discussions are ongoing with Cotric’s party.

“I saw the comments made publicly by our director of football Mr. Sheens,” Hagipantelis said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“He confirmed we have had discussions (with Nic) and the discussions continue

“So, there’s always a chance.”

Cotric began his career with the Raiders where he played 93 games between 2017 and 2020 before earning his move to Canterbury.

His season with the Bulldogs in 2021 was a down one with the winger scoring just three tries from 14 appearances.

Lee seeks the media, even for the smallest things.

Not Lee's biggest fan but He has a weekly segment on Sen. They were always going to ask him about it with sheens talking yesterday.

This ones on sheens. If we don’t get him, someone needs to tell him to play a straight bat with journalist in future.

Don’t think anyone needs to tell him anything. He’s been in the game his whole life and knows what he’s doing. There’s nothing wrong with confirming negotiations. The problem is when Chairman idiot was doing it, he was chest beating as if the players we were speaking to were over the line.

If it’s not ok for Lee it’s not okay for sheens. You will never hear the successful clubs update anyone on negotiations. If we don’t get cotric we will look like idiots agai.

Love your work Tigerpower. One of the best posters on here for sure. Consider for a minute however that Sheens is using Cotric to get his man Hodgson.

Putting the squeeze on the Raiders and making it uncomfortable for them. All the while sending a signal that we arent waiting around for Hodgson and have moved on.

My take on all this is we end up with Hodgson and not Cotric. If we end up with both well then he truly is Sheenius.

A lad on The Kennel reckons Cotric didn't show up to training today and an announcement by Friday. Very vague and no source revealed so take it as you will.

The SEN1170 Interviews are quite good and for mine I'd rather he not be as wooden as some others.

I know people would love clubs to just shut down the press completely but that's not really a beneficial strategy - all it does is allow speculation to mount and others to control the narrative. It's not as if there aren't going to be rumours about who we're interested in signing and if the club just lets them fester it lets agents push their own stories.

I actually quite liked Sheens's approach. He just said yeah, we're interested but the deal isn't done. Basically: sure, if he wants to come here and the money works it could happen. Shuts down rumours, and if we don't get Cotric it's easy, and probably true, to say yeah well the money didn't work. Move on.

Okay so why are we even thinking this guy?
I get that the dogs were not a good team but 3 tries in 14 appearances means he wont be over the line if it is down to him. I dont see him raising Ken or Noffa and i see any junior winger we have quitting.
Or do we buy an out of position center to save the dogs Salary cap? 🙁

Even if he is coming for 450-500k it still means we are paying almost 1 million for 2 wingers. To me that is just a tragic waste of money

Wouldn't it depend on if we make the top 8? Then nothing is a waste of money?

I would doubt if any team has ever made the finals paying 2 wingers combined nearly a million. That leads to a large cap imbalance something which we are finally clawing our way out of

Except ones certainly being recruited as a centre, which we have no cap spent on, or am I missing something?

I read this as Cotric will get $650.
The Tigers putting in more than Canberra (not sure what that number is) and Bulldogs putting in the balance to get to $650.

Cotric is not a good center he is a good winger and i believe will end up there if he comes

No chance

His season with the Bulldogs in 2021 was a down one with the winger scoring just three tries from 14 appearances.

well look who had to say something.. Mr Lee himself..

To be fair, doesn't he have a regular spot on SEN? They would of asked the question, he gave an answer, as he should.

"His season with the Bulldogs in 2021 was a down one with the winger scoring just three tries from 14 appearances."

When you look at how many of those games they won or scored points in, I don’t read too much into that. He’s a big body and shown he can play at the top level and is only 23. He can defend and provides 1st grade experience and depth from 1-5. Starts at centre for us Rd 1 no question.
On Nofo money he makes sense to me.
