Nine win's FTA TV right

Its a shame once again that D
Smith & co give nine a rusty trombone and let them run the game as usual with this deal. Instead of a great structure of less rnds similar to NFL & more focus on rep games as stand alone we have the same old except NRL choose the games. The NRL could of revolutionized the product streamlining it & fixing the issues we have as fans. But its all about the $$$$ unfortunately if they listened to fans they would realise tv $$$ is everything which is what we have now & game has gone backwards

Dave Smith came out to say the FTA TV deal is to reach a wider audience, specifically the rural NSW/QLD. Here's why

• Channel 9 have rubbish commentary/coverage. Fox Sports give the far superior package. Their commentary and presentation are light years ahead of 9.

• The deal will benefit the same teams - Broncos, Rabbitohs, Roosters, etc. Sick of seeing them every Friday. And funny how the Rabbitohs have played just about every one of these Thursday games.

• 9 are the worst case of commercialism. Once Phil Gould latches onto somebody, they'll be marketed the f*ck out of. Did I mention their commentary is disgustingly awful?

• Again with the same teams benefiting. Clubs like Cronulla, Gold Coast and Canberra always get the raw end of playing times. Same sh*t, different year. We'll probably be in this boat soon.

Fox Sports give an awesome time of the game. If I'm doing nothing on a Saturday, I can sit down and watch the whole bunch of games and be entertained. And usually the teams I have no interest are playing.

Thursday/Friday games I hardly ever tune into unless we're playing or I'm at a bar or friends house with the game on.

Whilst I believe that the sun shine's out of NSW, there are 2 other states and another country that have representation in the NRL. The rules ensure that at least 1 QLD team get a Friday night game which I don't have a problem with.
