Adam Doueihi has done a podcast with Denan Kemp now too. Talked about everyone close to him telling to take the roosters deal but he wanted join tigers as they were his junior club and he wanted to be loyal

Good to hear. That "everyone else" might be the reason that we have trouble recruiting big names to the club. We need to get players into rep teams and ensuring that they are talking the club up.

Is wanting to win more important than actually winning? I’ll be happy when I see the team wanting to win, competing on every play, chasing hard, tackling hard, and putting in the discretionary effort, regardless of what’s on the scoreboard.

Terrible poscast series

Former player kemp swears to much and is very poor interviewer.

I could not listen for more than 14 mins

Kemp played for a star studded broncos he has the right to talk the way he does with the players.

I enjoy but can see how not everyone cup of tea

That is also important, but this was in response to 'getting players in rep teams' etc etc.. the roosters are a desirable club to play for (as a player) because they win, as soon as WT can start tipping those scales, more players will want to play for us

That effort will probably last 4-5 weeks if we’re not winning games.

To be fair, he was raised in a Samoan speaking household.

I understand what your saying in terms of the way other players may view WT as a career destination. If a club is losing games it brings more focus on the question “why”, why are they losing? A player will have, rightly or wrongly, formed an opinion, or answer to that question, which may not be too flattering of the club, as I personally have had during the last decade. As for winning, you know as well as I do that it is just a result on the scoreboard. In our first game against Penrith, 2019, we had them beat 2 minutes before the final hooter , scoreboard favouring us 8-2. Panthers score, a successful conversion takes us to extra time. Panthers put one over the bar, we lose 8-9. That day we wanted to win. It was the desire to win which earned us respect from our opponents, fans, everyone.
Winners keep their own score.

Ha if we really wanted to win we wouldn't have let them score a try in the last 2 minutes (and Esan would've done more kicking practice)

Now you can see why Mbye is the captain...speaks well, has some smarts and represents the club well in interviews...he may also come good in 2021 if injury free..Noffa mustnt have gone to school much,if he did he must have wagged English classes...his eloqution is as bad as his defense..

Had a pretty hard upbringing from what I understand? Referred in the past to being homeless for parts of it, sleeping at friends houses for extended periods. His elocution would be the least of his worries I'd think.

I dont know much about Noffas upbringing and hard times he has had, however, since his career has been high profile for a number of years and he has had very good people around him from within the rugby league community, there would have been plenty of opportunity `to improve himself after his poor early years...
there are many courses available online or otherwise that would have welcomed him to learn...
Packer comes to mind,Kev N,he learnt carpentry while playing for the WTs...I suppose its the old adage "you have to want " to improve your life .
I have a great respect for Noffa to have excelled in a very tough sport, but also there are plenty of ways to benefit from this great game at this level to go on with another career after the game has caught up with the players...

Sure but you said that he sounded like he hadn't gone to school much by which you meant before he turned professional. So that's why I mentioned his upbringing. I couldn't care less if players go to uni and become better speakers personally.

I vaguely recalling he and his partner have their own cafe/restaurant out Campbelltown way. It sounds like he's planning for the future.

Don’t think they’re together anymore but Nof still has part ownership in it as far as I know.

It’s a really beautiful Lebanese chicken place at Oran Park. I order from there often.

Are we really bagging out a Rugby League player for not displaying some eloquence when he speaks? Are we in a time warp where everyone has forgotten it's the working man's game? If the players have to speak the Queen's English I would hope everyone shows the same articulation in the stands.

"Sir, please see to it the opposition retreats the full ten metres at every tackle."

Yes and No ..I think originally many of us were questioning the ability of watching the 80 odd minutes of Nofa

He is a talented athlete who plays Rugby League and from what I understand he is working on life after he is retired in a few years - that's fair enough for me.
I believe his heart's in the right place and for whatever shortfalls he has in his game, he certainly puts in 100% - some of his team mates could learn a thing or two about effort from him.
I hope we are able to keep him at the club for a whole bunch of reasons.

LOLOLOLOL ..if you are going to bag someone elocution bro ...not eloqution .......the next smarter than a 5th grader candidate Hobbo

Difference is numbnuts I tried off the top of my head to spell it....you went and asked your missus to look it up in the dictionary...Hobbo only has to spell one or two words and you end up in a state of confusion looking for you meds...Qlders fair dinkum..

Mr Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon ...I'll accept that as a concession speech ...don't worry I only knew because I spelt it wrong in an assignment about a million years ago

About the same time kicking balls into trees for practice instead of on the footy field where the game is played..always knew there was something funny about you...but each to their own...no wonder Hobbo and I were stars of the game and you were an also ran...

Last time I checked when you put bombs up for yourself ...you don't really experience what really happens on a footy field ...trees become traffic ...and when bombs are heading towards goal posts the branches become the deflection ..and when you live about 15kms from your closest goalposts .....sprint coaches back in the 80's banned you from riding bikes ...allegedly shortened your hammies and calves ....

Well mate Im sorry you lived so far from a footy ground with goalposts...trees must have been your best avenue for practice...at least you got out of the trees and found a new way of life....
I had to do road runs about 8/10 kms once a week,a bike would have been a luxury in those days ..

I missed the last bus if was a 15 km run home , unless someone recognized me who lived at Karalee
