Fatso the Fat-Arsed Wombat​

Fatso the Fat-Arsed Wombat was an unofficial mascot of the 2000 Summer Olympics created by Sydney cartoonist Paul Newell with Roy and HG from the Australian Channel Seven sports comedy television program - The Dream with Roy and HG.

Fatso is a wombat with a lazy, cheerful expression and comically pronounced rump.
He usually appeared on The Dream broadcasts, sometimes as a life-size stuffed toy on Roy and HG's desk.

A London session drummer named Jimmie Nicol spent ten days performing with the Beatles at the peak of Beatlemania in June 1964.
He stepped in after Ringo Starr was hospitalized and was thrust into private jets, police escorts, press conferences, and stadiums filled with tens of thousands of screaming fans. He kept pace with the band, charmed reporters, and even inspired the line “It’s getting better” that the Beatles repeated and later echoed in their music.
When Ringo recovered on June 15 Nicol was quietly paid, thanked, and sent home.

A photographer captured him sitting alone at Melbourne Airport, a brief superstar returning to ordinary life. The episode is a sharp lesson in how sudden fame can be glorious and brutally temporary.

In 1964, Nat Young was runner-up in the Australian junior championship at Manly, and two years later was named world surfing champion in 1966.
He won the Smirnoff World Pro/Am in 1970.
