I was there mid 70's to early 80's. Tom and Mick Woods both played for Parramatta, or it may have been Cumberland back then. Mitchell Starc played for Berala which is a junior feeder club to Auburn. I think he played a few lower grade games for Auburn - but he was a wicket keeper as a junior when he played for the club.

I played 1st grade 74/75/76 season and 2nd grade until i left Sydney in 1983. Probably a good chance i knew your relation. I seem to remember a Steven Greentree but dont know the other 2

Today is the 70th anniversary of the start of a Test match that would see one of the most remarkable individual performances in cricket history.

July 26, 1956 was the first day of the Old Trafford Test between England and Australia.
It became known as ‘Laker’s Match’ as Surrey off-spinner Jim Laker took 9/37 and 10/53 (19/90 in the match, still a world record). Australia lost by an innings and 170 runs.

Laker is pictured leaving the field with his sweater casually draped over his shoulder after England's victory. Spin partner Tony Lock had taken the other wicket.

The often-told story about Laker stopping at a pub for refreshments during his long drive home after the game is always worth repeating.
He sat down with a pint and a cheese sandwich while regulars watched the highlights of the day's play on TV, and not one of them recognized him.
