I remember a teacher who would sneak up behind while you were dealing with a complex math problem, and wack you in the back of the head.

My uncle who was in high school at Coogee in the 50's says there was a teacher there that used to do this - except he used to use a Dunlop Volley..... uncle says he was hit so many times he blames it for having lost his hair prematurely....🤣
