Nostalgia

I recently read about him
Treated so poorly by the Olympic Committee- he wasn't invited to the Sydney Olympics 😢 Very sad for just being a decent human being

He was treated very badly just because he had the balls to support fellow athletes about the civil rights movement in the USA.As you say he was a decent man when there was even more racism around than there still is now

Geez I caught the Ryde 500 bus more than a few times way back then. Actually met my first wife on one, saw her every morning, made it all worthwhile.
Marriage didnt last but the memory lingers !
I never drove a double decker, but I did do the 500 from the Top Ryde Terminus to Circular Quay many times.
A year or so before I retired, I did the XOO limited stops from Parramatta Stn. to the Quay.
The X00 buses I drove were usually air conditioned. But on a cold winter morning, I could drive spl. from the Depot to P'matta Stn. then back to Top Ryde before there was any warmth in the bus.
The same on hot days, the air cond. was useless, so had to open the roof hatches.
Any brand-new buses we got were mostly 💩 boxes within 12 months as they were never cleaned or maintained properly.

I didn’t want to clog up the album thread, but my lament about the state of music made me think of something else. The old yellow Ticketek ticket. I used to save and collect them from every show I went too. I ended up losing them all, sadly. These days, you just click them on your phone, and if you want the hard copy, it’s just a print out of the actual purchase confirmation. Such a tragedy.

Anzac Day 2018 I was in New York at an exhibition around the 1960's and 70's at the New York Library. I was looking at that exact picture when an African American asked me to take a photo of him in front of this photo.

I said sure mate but only if you can tell me who this is pointing to Peter Norman (I did already knew about Peter Norman) and to my surprise he gave me Peter's life history. I took his photo for him and then he asked if we could have one together in front of the photo

People never cease to amaze me - this one in a fantastic way
