Long before legends like Sachin Tendulkar or Sir Don Bradman graced the game, there was one man who laid the foundation for greatness in cricket WG Grace.
He was a pioneer in every sense, achieving numerous firsts in the sport:
* The first player to score two triple centuries in first-class cricket
* The first to accumulate 2,000 first-class runs in a single season
* The first to notch up 1,000 runs in the month of May alone
* The first cricketer to reach 50,000 runs in first-class cricket
* The first to register 100 centuries
* The first player to score a Test century on English soil
His career was nothing short of extraordinary it spanned 44 years.
Over that time, he amassed a staggering 54,000 runs, claimed 2,809 wickets, and took 876 catches.
He played professional cricket until the age of 61 and passed away in 1915.
