Nostalgia

Thanks for this memory champion @twentyforty - I was working in hospitality all those years ago and used his book for recipes for cocktails all the time ✅
Me too. Was with a few friends and we found ourselves at the Chevron one night. Spotted Eddie behind the bar, asked him to mix us 4 of his favourites, even though I’m not a cocktail drinker. Told my friends it’s an opportunity to tick it off your bucket list. Eddie asked where we were seated. He could look at a person and know instinctively what they would like in a cocktail. Magic moment in time.

Always checked if there were any coins left in the reservoir at the bottom - sometimes was lucky. 👍

The trick was to jam crumpled up pages from the directory book up the coin return chute (ie so it wasn't obvious). I used to do this on my way to primary school & then check for a payout on my way home. Any success was promptly spent on lollies from the corner shop.

In the 1981 Headingley miracle, Ian Botham’s unbeaten 145 runs and Bob Willis’ fiery 8-wicket spell sealed a historic 18-run win.
England defeat Australia.
England became the first team in 86 years—since 1894–95—to win a Test after following on.

The best little milk bar at The Entrance all those years ago;
The glassware similar to an American Diner, banana splits in shallow dishes, ice cream sodas in lovely tall glasses and booths along the wall with lino tiles on the floor.
Sadly closed forever as much of the old shops there are .........
