Vale Bill Evans

Bathurst 500/1000 class winner 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘀 passed away on Saturday, 9 August, aged 85.

A veteran of 11 Bathurst 'Great Race' starts between 1968 and 1979, Evans enjoyed considerable success at Mount Panorama, winning class honours in 1972, 1973 and 1978. He raced alongside some of the era’s biggest names in Australian motorsport!

Evans also competed successfully in Rallycross and the Australian Sports Car Championship before becoming a regular in Touring cars.

His best Bathurst 1000 outright result came in 1978, with Rod Stevens in an O’Brien Wood Ford Escort.
