Not happy Lote!

Was at the GF Luncheon yesterday with my son.
All the players quite happy to sign everything fans brought along.
My son had a set of cards with all the players photos.
All the players signed them, except Lote, who very coldly said he doesn't sign cards :crazy
My son thought he was joking, I was so shocked, I didn't think to ask him why.
He signed other things we had.
What's with not signing cards? Does he think we'll sell them on eBay?…... For $2!

Anyone got ideas why he wouldn't sign it, is it a rugby thing

No idea why he wouldnt sign your card. But I found Lote as the best of our boys when it comes to signing autographs or taking photos etc.
 
That's really surprising. I have met lote a few times and he has always been an absolute champion, especially towards the young kids.

Any chance the cards were in direct opposition to one of his 3rd party sponsors or along those lines Darkie

Never heard a bad thing about Lote in that way
 
It isn't uncommon because of sponsorship arrangements etc.

Some players also have a problem with past experiences signing cards and those cards turning up on Ebay that night.
 
Maybe because his hands are so terrible these days he needs to save his signatures for what ever contracts he can still jag.

Sheens always added a date with his signature, in response to items turning up on ebay…..his reasoning was true supporters that wanted the sig for genuine reasons wouldnt mind, a date somehow lessened value I think it was
 
Prob because they always turn up on eBay - some people have ruined it for everyone but u can't blame the player

I should've said my son is 23 with dreadlocks halfway down his back :slight_smile:

I also have a few photos & signatures off him & he has always been excellent in the past.

Maybe he was jealous of my sons dreadies :brick:
 
I sat next to Lote yesterday and he must have signed hundreds of things all day, those blokes must have writers cramp by day end.

It's pretty common for athletes not to sign cards. More common in the states but usually comes down to endorsement deals with said companies or affiliate companies. I think the fact that he signed alot of other things for you and your kid puts more weight behind this.
 
Sporting memorabilia types put them in a framed glass display whack a photo that no doubt breaks copyright laws with it and flog it on ebay or at shops/market stalls. I'm thinking that would be a reason why he wouldn't sign your card (exp seeing as though you're both adults)
 
I'd say it would have something to do with people profiting out of his signature. A signed card can become very valuable. Particularly if it is a special edition, rare card or is required to complete a set.

Maybe you should have asked him why instead of bagging the guy because you got cut.
 
Signed cards are worth nothing. Not sure why he wouldn't sign one. As soon as u mark them they devalue

Just a thought… Would it be worth asking him why before losing respect for him and posting a topic on the forum without all the facts... Particularly as you say, he signed everything else...
