I can tell you that the club has budgeted $3 million to re-sign the fab 4 and are very confident of keeping them.

I will be overjoyed if we can keep the 4 of them for that price

If Teddy Broses Woods and the 5th Brother Nofa leave

Jack Bird (Cronulla)

Val Holmes (Cronulla)

Johnathan Thurston (Cowboys)

Semi Radradra (Parramatta)

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (Roosters)

Val to FB..problem solved…

Probably about right. TT stated a few months ago that the club had put 1.5 away for Moses and Tedesco.

Our re-signing priority shall be:
1 Tedesco (the best NRL FB in the last 2 years)
2 Woods (our only rep forward, best Aus prop, averages 150 m per game)
3 Moses (one of the best young 5/8)
4 Brooks (one of the best young #7)

It looks like many people on this forum did not see too many WT games, as they would not be saying 'Seumanufagai and Sue must lift their game' ??
If anyone has to lift their game are players like Sironen, Naiqama, Brooks, Lawrence, Simona and Lovett but definitely not Seumanufagai and Sue.
Arguably, they are between our most improved players in the last 2-3 years, Seumanufagai was often one of our best players last season :sign:

Sue has got to stop going missing in games , as has happened. His big games are often to far apart.
On average, needs to get a lot more consistent. Unless he does, he's not going to make much overall difference as to whether we go well or not.

Surely they don't rate Moses and Tedesco as equally valuable.
I wouldn't be surprised if anyone is going to get that figure on his own.
Without Teddy , we are looking to remain a also ran.
Not saying we are a one man team, but we are extremely close to it.

It might not be the worse thing that all our top line players are off contract during this year as everyone else is.
Think having JT off contract will provide a bit of benchmark, NQ are losing there older players and their younger players are coming more in demand. You would think JT will sign for the highest price but won't negotiate too much as he will likely stay in North Queensland.
If he re signs for around 1mIllion that reduces the price tag of the players.
3rd party's will be our biggest hurdle, but building a winning team is more attractive for quality players than joining a winning team.
I read somewhere in one of the hush hush columns that one star player has not entered into negotiation for new contract as they want to sack their manager once their current deal is up.
I read at some stage earlier that teddy was not going to be represented by Sam Ayob anymore.
Does anyone know if that statement is possibly about Teddy or can confirm he is switching management?

They need to add some aggression to their games

I don't argue that they haven't improved , but they aren't respected as true hard men like a Bromwich , JWH ,Scott etc .

Ava has still not stepped up to become a starter yet either

My point was they have hit 80 games , they need to become true leaders of the side and be able to put the fear of God into opposition sides

I bet if you asked many sides what the thought of our forward pack as a whole , they wouldn't respect us and probably would label us soft and lacking a hard edge

And they'd be right , we are soft , we lack a hard edge , and we aren't mentally strong

Fox sports article named Joey Leilua as holding off till his contract with manager expires before signing a new contract.

From that list I'd go after Ryan James & Valentine Holmes.

Both offer versatility in positions we are struggling with and could get lost within that list of so many names.

1.5 mil won't come close to securing both of them.

Now that i think about it, it might have been 2.5.

November 1 is also Day of the Dead..
Maybe we need to clear some deadwood first.

And that would be??

Rankin in the Backs, Sirro in the forwards for a start.

The money Rankin is on, you aren't going to replace him with anyone better

I hope your right, but we were rumoured to be shopping him around, so I would not be surprised if his contract is a little bigger than what you would expect

Teddy and Moses, if no one else they just need to re-sign these two. Would like to hang onto Sue and ET, but the first two are the main priority.

I can see 3 if not all 4 locked up…. .with staggered contract lengths..and before RD 1

I would even throw in a 5th Nofoaluma,,,

I like them odds. Hopefully we can add Sue & Ava to that list.

To be honest i'm not all that worried about Sue and Ava. They make their metres and tackles but lack aggression. Sue wants to be an enforcer but he has to walk the walk. I'd hope at midway through next year they are struggling to make the side as some of our juniors have stepped up. Felise will be there and hopefully either Paseka or Tatola will be on the bench.

I could be wrong but from memory both had less than average ball control, making a good run then knocking on at the wrestle or play of the ball..

I think you are definitely miss-remembering. Ava played every game this year and according to the NRL player stats only made 3 errors in the whole season. He also ran the third most meters of anyone in the team despite only playing an average of 41 minutes per game. Not to mention that he only missed 17 tackles all season, the least out over everyone except for Siro, JAC, Littlejohn (all of whom played less than 10 games).

In my opinion loosing Ava would be a big blow to the team; he's one of our most consistent forwards.
