Now For Something Completely Different

In 1946, Henry Ford and his wife were captured in a joyful photograph riding his first-ever creation, the Quadricycle Runabout, built 50 years earlier in 1896.

This curious blend of a carriage and two bicycles had a lightweight frame, a basic seat, and a two-cylinder, chain-driven engine.
This modest vehicle was Ford’s initial triumph. He sold it for $200, using the funds to develop an enhanced model. Years later, after his company soared, Ford repurchased the Quadricycle in 1904 for only $65.

Still operational, the Quadricycle stood as a powerful emblem of how small beginnings can drive massive change.
What once seemed like an odd wheeled experiment became the spark that fueled a global industrial revolution.

Noooooo !!!

A new restaurant chain in New York City is turning heads — and raising eyebrows — by hiring Filipino hostesses who appear on Zoom screens instead of working on-site.

The concept, used by Sansan Chicken, Sansan Ramen, and Yaso Kitchen across Manhattan, Queens, and Jersey City, relies on the wage gap between New York’s $16 minimum wage and the Philippines’ $3.75 hourly pay.

At the counter, customers are greeted by live video hosts from the Philippines who take orders, answer questions, and even receive 18% tips — the same as in-person staff.

And it gets worse!
Tech entrepreneurs warn, however, that this virtual model may soon evolve again — not with humans, but AI avatars. The Filipino remote hosts could be replaced by digital assistants within six to twelve months, signaling another step in the automation of hospitality.

In 1993, Australian inventor Jim Frazier patented his special deep-focus lens in the United States. This lens lets both the subject and the background stay sharp at the same time, and it can rotate without moving the camera. It has been widely used in movies and documentaries around the world. Jim Frazier worked closely with Sir David Attenborough, helping bring nature to life on screen. He won an Academy Award in 1998 for this amazing invention.

That is disgusting because serving staff including cashiers in the USA get slave wages anyway (they need to rely on large MANDATORY tips to survive). The USA where everything is about making the rich richer and stuff the workers.

Not quite. Ford popularised the car, but Karl Benz actually built the first practical one in 1886. Also Edison didn’t invent the light bulb, he just made money off it. Tesla invented AC power and other breakthroughs, many of which Edison tried to claim credit for.

Another case of exploitation where the rich get richer and everyone else can stay in the same 💩hole.

Switzerland has introduced an innovative system that turns railway tracks into solar farms. Panels are installed directly between the rails, capturing sunlight without interfering with train operations.

This system, called Sun-Ways, is designed so panels can be quickly laid down or removed with special machinery, making it flexible and efficient. A single kilometer of solar-rail track can generate over 200,000 kWh of clean electricity per year.

By combining existing infrastructure with renewable energy, Switzerland is proving that sustainability doesn’t always require new land—it can be integrated into what already exists.

This approach could be replicated worldwide, adding gigawatts of solar power without disrupting transport.
