Now that we have no Benji

Our team dynamic changes so much now. We normally get away with sub par performances from other players around Benji because he has the ability to make them better. Does anyone else feel that we need more specialists in their positions until he returns? I just don't see Lui and Molzten making Brown, Ryan and some of our other players better than what they are. I have a bad feeling that these type of players are going to be shown up for the out of position glorified reserve graders they are, without Benji to bail them out. (sorry but Beau Ryan is a centre and will always be a centre). Maybe time for specialist positions from reserves to be given a chance to show what they can do as we have nothing to lose now. This team simply will not cut it against bona fide NRL teams, so if we are going to have a rough trot over the next few weeks why not blood some youngsters?

well this isn't even confirmed yet.Chances are he could still play next weekend

Fingers crossed, although 2GB said ligament damage to the knee. Didn't sound good though. The last thing this team needed is more injuries! BTW Matt Ryan is 10 times the player Michael Vick is. :smiling_imp:

Even if he is out why would we change the whole team?

I don't understnd this logic of our star player is out so lets drop half the backline because they will play worse now. In my mind it gives the players a chance to step up and shine.

We still created a number of chances after Benji went off the field.

Marshall may be right to play, he may miss one week. If he is out, Lui and Moltzen become the new halves combo.

Can you say that you are confident that our current side (which has been miss-firing for most of the year) is going to play better without our best player? I just don't see them stepping up without Benji, when it is blatantly obvious that they were disjointed with him in the team.

I wouldn't be surprised if Benji doesn't play against the puppies, the bye the following week gives him time to recover and be ready for the eels game.

Who knows mate but can you say you would be confident that someone from State Cup or U20's would step if they were given a shot in first grade.

If the rest of the team perform like they did today I have no concerns that we can't beat the Bulldogs.

As has been said Moltzen and Lui will step up and from memory out at the game were less disjointed when Benji went off. He is the star of the team and I would never leave him out but sometimes his style of play can force errors and destroy the flow of our attack.

This is what I'm getting at. Maybe more structure in our attack, i.e. players tasked to their natural skill set and positional play would suit any new halves pairing.

I agree we need more structure especially when we are attacking inside the 20 but now is not the time to change half the team around because Benji is out. Our backline have been playing in the same positions for a while now lets just keep it consitent so it can gel.

"It's a medial strain, it's only going to be a low grading," Tigers assistant coach Peter Gentle said.

"He may miss a week, he may not.
That is from abc site

Im tipping him to play thats why he rested him self then we have a bye tim sheens will play impartant 2 points do u guys remember last year agiasnt roosters finals then he killed it agiasnt raiders he will play and be pumped up and get us the win for a 4 pointer with the bye

It's just frustrating watching other explosive backlines in the comp, and knowing the limits of ours at the moment. I look at players like Ryan and can't help but feel that he might be holding the next big thing in reserve grade because we are contempt with mediocrity. It seems that these guys get chance after chance after chance despite playing like busted ar$es. There is no accountability, tams put up a high kick and know that Beau is most likely going to either drop it or not even contest it. I respect Sheens immensely, but no other NRL coach would put up with this.

Yes, remember it and hope history repeats itself.

if Benji does not play, or out for a few weeks, who will do the goal kicking?

Moltzen would probably be number one replacement.

Farah can also kick.

I also think Mitch Brown can goal kick as well….. someone else may need to confirm that for me.

Jacob Miller if he comes in can kick really well as well.

Goalkickers aren't our biggest issue - despite how the papers play it up.

From memory Miller is a gun goalkicker, he was 10 from 10 at the start of the season. Can't be any worse than Marshall

yeah the game was in the balance and he decided to rest himself…cool story :crazy

uh-huh, and he "rested himself" against the roosters that night as well. Further more, his knee was a little hot, which is why it needed an icepack in that game too.

No way he will back up in five days . The swelling won't have even gone down enough to start with if it is a medial . Possibly week after bye but more likely the week after imo (If it is a medial) 3-4 weeks for a low grade
