A couple of questions arise from all of this:
  1. I'm very interested to know that when James Tamou challenged the off side from the kick off and was told that it had been checked, how do we know? The video of the kick off was not replayed - it was just dismissed. It is actually in black and white in the rule book unlike some of the made up rules that Anusley was conjuring up.
  2. Do referees say "no escort" before each kick off? If it is not normal practice then why was it done on this occasion? Was it to give Chad Townsend the clue for a challenge and to indicate that the fix was on.
  3. As someone has previously mentioned, who or what syndicate was behind the 200k bet on the Cowboys winning? That's a lot of money to lose on something that most would have thought was going to be easy money.

All good questions Hank, the 1st
being particularly contentious
considering outcome of the game.

We do hear Butler say to Tamou
that they've checked the onside,
but did they? Like I mentioned
earlier that infringment precedes
the escort offence - they would
have been able to see Val offside
at the kick off if they looked?

NRL already admitted they got
the escort call wrong, this is a
double whammy. Should have
been penalty tigers at halfway
and a kick to touch to end the
game. Glad we have a SC onboard
looking at it all.. so many
aspects surrounding this are
farcial. Look forward to hearing
more about this, they're crooks
and I hope they get caught out
by the tapes, the official clock
or a technicality, It's wrong ...

I don’t think NRL can let it go to court if the tigers are thinking that. Sets a terrible precedent. Jumbo sized can of worms.

Annesley and his colleague V'landys has caused enormous damage to the reputation of this game, therefore they must be deposed from their positions sooner rather than later.

Went on a bit of an old Tigers highlights binge. Noticed something interesting in our game against the Bulldogs round 14 2020. At about 7:50 in the video, you'll notice the ref blow a short whistle to signal fulltime, before asking the bunker "no challenge opportunities", before then blowing the actual fulltime whistle. This was all after Nofoaluma was tackled with the ball at fulltime. Make of it what you will.

So Lee/Pascoe meet with Vlandys/Abdo tomorrow reportedly & Lee mentioned he hasn't received the audio. I'd say this is classic NRL knowing it's damning & want to play it to us face-to-face so we don't have the opportunity to leak anything to the media before the meeting. PVL & Abdo will then negotiate an outcome with us so NRL doesn't look bad & we get something out of it (except the 2 points) and sign a confidentiality deed.

What outcome could this be that we'll never find out about???

We are never going to get the 2 points.

Let's say even Klein has interjected and told them to use captain's challenge- it will only make the NRL look bad.

However, Lee made the point that apparently there actually is no 'soft whistle' in the NRL rulebook. Effectively, when the ref blows his whistle to stop play can be considered the 'end of game'.

This is the path they will go through IMO. No point in making NRL look bad. The whole purpose of this exercise by Wests Tigers is to make it obvious to players, fans, sponsors etc that we won't take shit lying down. They want it to look like an admin win even if we don't get the 2 points.

There will be a "data migration that occurred on the 24th of July" that accidentally lost all communications.

I like Lee's tact. If he can ascertain the full-time whistle, then that does not set a precedent of incorrect in-game decisions. Just that everything after is nullified. The most important point in all this to avoid court is to give the NRL a reasonable way to get out of it and save face and that is what Lee has done.

The problem is Annersly already set himself up with this "soft whistle" rubbish to try to get out of it completely.
 
Wests Tigers will be forced to rely on legal action if they are to have their loss to North Queensland overturned.

Tigers chair Lee Hagipantelis and chief executive Justin Pascoe were given an audience with ARL Commission chair Peter V’landys and NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo at Rugby League Central on Wednesday, where they were told that mistakes were made but given no indication the result would be reversed.

The Tigers were beaten in the final second of the game against the Cowboys a fortnight ago when North Queensland were awarded a penalty following a successful captain’s challenge by the home side.

“It went very well,” Hagipantelis said. “Peter was very gracious in recognising that our concerns were legitimate. They have acknowledged there is some ambiguity in the rules surrounding the captain’s challenge, particularly at that point in the match.

“They proffered an explanation which they believe justifies what occurred. They acknowledged that our interpretation as well was open to us to come to our own conclusion.

“They will review the rules at the end of the year in consultation with us and other clubs to ensure there is some clarity around the captain’s challenge at the end of the match.”

Asked whether they received any indication that the result could be overturned, Hagipantelis said: “That is not being offered. The NRL does not appear to have an appetite to overturn the result.

“We have taken that on board and we all take it back to the full board to determine the next step. The only avenue available would be to pursue it legally. We will take that back to the board and the board will resolve whether to take the matter any further.” (DT)
