So what he will be like todd carney he will have one good year at the roosters and then he will have a s*** year and then he will get sacked for off field stuff and then end up at another club.

So far this the most thought out post in this thread…..by far

So they were struggling to fit sonny bill under the cap, but all of a sudden they have room for Jennings? that's an absolute joke. There's no way they could afford him. If anyone has room to move under the cap it would have to be us.

Maybe penrith are still paying a lot of Jennings contract, they could be paying 500k of his contract and roosters only paying 100k

Then doesn't that defeat the purpose of the cap? If the Roosters can squeeze Jennings in for 100K thats wrong, he's worth far more than that and to me it's an indirect form of cheating the salary cap.

For arguments sake, if the panthers were paying 500k of his contract and the roosters only 100k, he'd still be earning his total original contract value and therefore I assume the commission would not have a problem with it. Of course when the panthers stop footing the bulk of the bill the roosters wil have to up their contribution to ensure he is payed fair market value and there is no manipulation of the cap. Its the good fortune of the roosters that the panthers were so crap at managing their salary cap and couldn't maintain a good working relationship with Jennings if that's what happened. It happens all the time. You win some you lose some.

the Panthers management are obviously business genius's

'lets pay a sh-load for our best player to play for some other team'

story checks out

Did I just hear right ??

I'm sure I just heard now that The Titans are showing some interest in him on Nine news

Suppose they can give him Princey's house for starters for free

Correct, seems likely that he be moving to GC as they have more room under the cap & more plausable considering Champion is about to link back up with the rabbits

Previous management signed jennko to an exorbitant long term deal

Current management obviously want to start with a clean slate and are looking ata long term plan

That's where it has all started. Matthew Elliot also let the players run riot and I think this has reflected in a few players attitudes as well.

I see it every bit as Gus & Ivan are taking back control of the club as well as implementing a successful long term plan for the playing roster.

I hope it works out for them as I have a soft spot for the Pamfers.

Hardly a bombshell, Jennings' future has been talked about for over 6 months now. I don't see how the Roosters couldn't afford him, apart from SBW, Maloney and Pearce I can't see any of their players being on big bucks (well Mini would be, but would have long service concessions).

Kenny-Dowell and Friend would also be on a good packet without a doubt

SKD maybe, 350k absolute max. If they are paying Friend more than 250k they are kidding themselves.

250 grand or 350 grand is considered big bucks from where I sit. IMO Friend would be one of their most important players.

Jennings to the Roosters for the next 4 years. Update from RLW Facebook page.
Certainly puts a bit of sting in the roosters backline…

The chooks are paying a lot of cash for a bloke who essentially is a hole runner. He is not creative, has discipline problems and spends a fair chunk of each season in rehab.

He maybe just what they need or could be a big dud. Without Brain Smith, they might be the real deal in 2013 but they do have massive discipline problems on and off the field and Jenning isnt going to change any party culture.

The funny thing people tell me he was offered to the Tigers first months ago and we passed as we would have had to shed players to make room for him

Roosters sign Michael Jennings

The Sydney Roosters have secured the services of Michael Jennings, with the Australian and NSW representative joining the club immediately after being granted a release from his contract with the Penrith Panthers.
\
\
24 year-old Jennings has agreed to a four-year arrangement with the Roosters that will take him through to the conclusion of the 2016 season.
\
\
“The Roosters have a talented roster and I’m excited to have joined the team. I have met with Trent Robinson and am looking forward to getting to know my new teammates, getting stuck into training, working hard and playing alongside guys like Mitchell Pearce who I have already played with at Origin level.”
\
\
Roosters Chief Operating Officer Football, Brian Canavan, was pleased to welcome Jennings to the club, with his signing adding further depth and experience to the Roosters backline.
\
\
“A player of immense talent, Michael is a great addition to our squad. With the release of BJ Leilua and the lengthy loss of Tautau Moga to injury, Michael will add potency to our backline.
\
\
“Having already played in excess of 100 matches in the NRL and numerous representative games, Michael brings considerable experience to the club, and I’m sure he will both add to and compliment what we are working towards building here at the Roosters.”
\
\
“We welcome Michael to the Roosters family and are pleased to have him as part of our club for the next four seasons.”
\
\
Jennings made his first grade debut in 2007 and has played 122 NRL games to date

Will be interesting to see how he goes - the chooks aren't renowned for strict discipline. It also frees up a lot of money at the Panthers - methinks a massive offer to JT must be on the cards.

I wonder who the rooster's let go for this to happen?

worked out well for Jennings, Roosters and Panthers.
would not be suprised if he has a very good year, and rips Panthers to shreds when he lines up against them, just to rub it in Phil Gould's face.

Leilua and Masoe. Pearce will be hitting long term concessions about now. This signing gives them a grand total of 2 players who played in the 2012 origin series at the club. Along with SBW and Maloney. It is hardly a star studded roster.
