NRL classics

Even though it doesn't involve the WT's I enjoy watching the 2003 GF (on tomorrow )

Seeing Roosters supporters in pain ...not a better feeling in Rugby League ??

That was a great Grand Final, easily in the top 3 of the last 20 years.
Brutal hits and inspirational efforts across the park. Watching Roosters lose.....and winning a couple of hundred on Penrith winning the comp. Was a great night👍
Penrith that year were 2nd only to WT 2005 as far as playing the best, free flowing attacking footy IMO, they were fun to watch.

Quick question

does anyone have a match replay of Round 15 Panthers vs Steelers 1982

or

1983 Round 4 Illawara vs Balmain

thanks in advance

Came across this one from 1998 for all the Balmain supporters. One of my favorite at game memories being there in the rain. Everyone thought that the sharks scored in the last minute (spoilers!) But it got ruled back due to the sharks player stepping out. It seemed like an eternity for Bill Harrigan to realise that touchie had his flag up near the half way line. It took that long, the commentators (including Blocker) were congratulating the sharks for a will deserved win and the TV score board even got updated. My mate and I felt like we were the only tigers supporters at the ground, after I started jumping around celebrating when I saw the touchie had his flag up.

Well worth a watch even for just the last 2 minutes. And the replay shows the sharks player didn't go near the sideline.

Interestingly, we won 5 of our first 6 but then would win only 4 more games for the year.

I was at that game and often share the story that I went tandem sky dIving that morning at a cost of around $300 for an adrenaline rush but that game, at a fraction of the cost, had me on the edge of my seat with my heart pumping!!

I remember seeing the flag go up straight away (and recall Greg Donaghey pointing to the line) so knew it wasn’t to be a try.

I was there with Tigergran (some here may remember her) who took some convincing.

What a day!

I just went and watched that game and was struck by a couple of things;

1. My god that was the most bog average Balmain team of all time,
2. The officiating and refereeing in that game was discgraceful. Harrigon was so bad. People have a rose coloured rear view of what kind of ref he was.

I remember there were 3 different occasions that Harrigan made such a bad mistake, they dropped him to Reserves. Looking through the internet I could find evidence of one back then and another as a video ref, but yes I am surprised people seem to have forgotten that he was a terrible ref.

Terrible ref and a cheat. Convinced that he had $$$$ on Canberra in the '89 GF. Made some horrendous decisions that afternoon the bastard.

The penalty against Bruce Maguire was one of the worst decisions i have ever seen,it should have gone our way instead raiders get it and kicked the goal that basicaly won them the game

On the back of that penalty they went down the field and scored the try that put it into extra time from memory.
Disgraceful decision, never been a penalty for "not in the spirit of the game" before or since that day that I'm aware (obviously the 1920's is a bit hazy?). They should have a bronze statue of that mangy flog outside Bruce Stadium.

Tiger killers
2011 was another successful season with the Tigers finishing 4th and making the semi finals yet again, where they were defeated by a late try to the New Zealand Warriors in a loss

Does anyone remember who scored that try
All I remember was I was swearing my head off
I was not happy

And what about
Kenny Dowell in 2010
What a drug cheat
He Robbed us

As a Balmain and Wests Tigers supporter, the 1988 and 1989 grand finals along with the two games above are the worst days I have experienced as a supporter of the Tigers
Most hated player of mine is Terry Lamb

Getting shafted by some dodgy decisions in the 2010 prelim was bad. Not surprising though, the Drags were ordained as Premiers quite a bit out from the finals series.....the hideous no-call against Brett Morris being nearly a metre over the sideline before passing for their 1st try in the GF perfectly illustrated this. That Premiership was gift-wrapped for the 'Queens.

Well I assume at 100 minutes the game is over
Is that correct?
Not many games in history go that long
Especially one that cost us a finals birth
