NRL Confirms 'Brain Bunker' for 2019

There’s always been something about Annesley I didn’t like…

From Wiki -

“In October 2013, Annesley said that he arranged for Telstra to put in mobile reception, six months prior and without charge, for a new property at Yowie Bay he bought with his wife, claiming he couldn't do his job as a minister otherwise.”

Another pollie with his snout in the trough. Why do we end up with career politicians in management positions in league? Annesley, Beattie - maybe Morrison after the May election - ‘cause his political career seems doomed.

Annesley is a little different as he became a politician through his profile from Rugby League.

I reckon doing this will mean we see a lot more players taken off for concussion tests.
We'll have games where there are no interchange players left and it'll be 12 v 111 or something.

good decision. need to take bias and subjectiveness out of decisions like these

True - but will be interesting when teams are reduced to 12 players because of over cautiousness.

I guess another team broke the Salary cap

concussion is something i'd say it's ok to be overcautious about.

i'd be happy if a physio made a mistake and a player was playing with an acl injury, hell cooper cronk played with a broken bone- as long as they know the risks musculoskeletal injuries you can push through.

but in term of neurological conditions (eg the freaky simon dwyer incident as well), make it as objective as possible. the reason being, we know nothing about the brain to know how much injury it can sustain and the long terms effects of it.

I agree but my post was more about whether the NRL will put something in place to stop teams from being disadvantaged - maybe teams can name an additional 2 players that can only be used as replacements for HIA. Under the new rules teams shouldn't be able to rort the HIA as they have done in the past and the 2 players will only be used to replace a player under HIA without a reduction in the number of general replacements.

I wouldn't mind that idea if we still had lower grades and those players had to have already played that day. Under the current set up I would hate to see it introduced.

What would you suggest that will avoid teams being disadvantaged - with independent assessors there will likely be more players off for HIAs and under the current system its extremely unfair where some side are cut to 14 or 15 available players while the opposition has 17.

I do not believe that an extra replacement for HIA should be a fresh player as that gives an advantage, so because the game does not have lower grades playing on the same day then I don't believe much can be done about it.

But then its an advantage to the side who is lucky enough to get away without a HIA - its a real problem and unfortunately i believe the NRL is too inept to come up with any solution.
