NRL considering major rule changes

The only advantage would be it would tighten scorelines and keep games closer If people remember the old four quarter mid week games they were usually pretty tight affairs between the NRL sides

Teams wouldn't have the same time to wear their opposition down and reap the awards late in halves

Not sure if I am a fan

You'd be watching SOO games at midnight

This is just to raise more Revenue through Commercials , no doubt . If players had to play an extra 10 minutes they would want extra $$$.
In the event of a draw how long do you want these players playing for ?
What a stupid idea next thing you know we will have stoppages in scrums when the ball finds touch :unamused:

looks good to me, except for the quarter idea.

20 rounds with 18 teams and standalone for SOO sounds amazing.

Yes the games never got a chance to get into a rythm

Some people have short memories…weve had 4 qtr footy, weve had a 20 team comp....both sucked.

An 8 man bench??
Oh great that should ensure more ''rugby league'' is played :unamused:
We must have 20 year olds running the game

I agree with Ink,these types of changes have been tried before with minimal success….

I also agree with FT,revenue raising at its finest....

I do remember the quarters in RL but I also remember
. 1 referee and 2 sideline officials.
. Unlimited tackles.
. 4 tackles to six.
. 40 minuets per half and ten minutes half time break...

These are just some of the things I remember about a game of RL and they were very enjoyable....
Maybe I'm wrong...don't know...

It's just Buzz living in his fantasy World….wont happen

I reckon the 4 quarters would be alright If they reduced the interchange to 8 for club footy. But I think origin would certainly lose a lot if it went back to quarter football which it would have to if the rest of the comp was played that way.4 quarter football Would certainly make sense in the early rounds when it was 35 degrees on some days.

No.
Its not a game anymore, not even a contest really

Its a TV product….proudly brought to you by zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Obviously the NRL doesn't give 2 hoots about the players welfare ? Just worried about generating more $$$$.
We had that many player's unavailable for the 4 Nation's what does that tell you?

4 Quarters at 25 minutes each ? that is an extra 20 minutes player's will be playing per game 😱pen_mouth: , if my Maths serves me right that is an extra 6.5 Matches your asking them to play Minute wise , Calculating it on 80 Minute games they are used to .

You add the All Stars game + The 9's Tournament + State of Origin + Internationals + Semi Finals , The NRL are nuts . I think Greg Inglis played something like 36 games in total this Season and they want to add 20 Minutes per game .

The Problem is the NRL's CEO has never played the Game :bash Clueless
