Really?
My apologies, wally said its inappropriate and “extraordinary”… Not ‘out of the ordinary’ as I was trying to twist it… You’re too good, you got me.
Yeh, two of the all time greats are out of touch and should be dismissed. Silly old fossils

Yeah they are out of touch. Who cares, in respect to players in 2019, what Wally Lewis did when he played 3 decades ago? It's like getting comments from Blocker or Tommy. Unless you are actually behind the closed doors, you are just a sideline commentator like everyone else.

A bunch of rent-a-quotes; media beat-up basically for the purpose of sinking the boot into the Broncos, and I don't even like Broncos, but imagine it was Wests Tigers and you had Backdoor Benny and Tommy saying "it's not acceptable".

The point is you made several comments about players breaking team rules. Literally, they did not, confirmed by the club. You linked to an article and said "See, Locky said it's out of the ordinary". Well Locky didn't say that, and Wally said being out wouldn't be normal for himself, when he was a player. Neither said anything about what's actually "normal" now for the current Broncos team, nor the club rules set since they were players.

Imagine getting busted for popping outside and playing a bit of pokies when you are travelling interstate, what a joke. Maybe it's how some of these fellows unwind. And almost to a man back in hotel by 11pm.

Actually I hope they put noise detectors in the rooms to ensure players were actually asleep by 11pm, because sleep is very important, and to ensure they weren't having pillow fights or up until 1am playing FIFA.

You feel better now?
Talk about picky

Yeah. And it turns out now every player except Fifita was back in hotel by 9pm. Beat up.

@jirskyr Good point, but still seems odd to go to a party celebrating your most hurtful loss?

I'm not a pro footballer, I can't comment on how they let their hair down. After a season of being belted and on strict rules, they are probably somewhat relieved to have the pressure off. I mean Mad Monday shouldn't exist, if the bottom 8 were legitimately upset with their performances.

Not the right place but....

Where will I find the Tigers v St George game in 2005 that was linked a couple of days ago? Thanks

The impact that win has on the Raiders season is massive. A loss last night and they have to go through the Roosters in the prelim. But now they get a very winnable prelim at home. Everyone going on about Hasler, but what about Stuart. Doesn’t get nearly enough of the credit he deserves because everyone hates “Wicky” (an insult I never understand. Does he have a lisp?). They have been the smartest recruiting club of the last 3 or 4 years. They understand Canberra is one of the most undeseribsle places to live and that players wouldn’t want to live there. So they looked at the ESL. They realised English players wouldn’t be turned off because Canberra is probably very similar to the north of England in regards to the weather and excitement level. Bateman, Whitehead and Hodgson are gems. Full credit to Stuart.

Ricky reminds me a lot of Tim Sheens. Sometimes he gets it absolutely wrong, but when he gets it right, it really works well. He can be a real innovator and his teams are often enjoyable to watch. I really like the Raiders team 2019, and historically I've often been anti-Raiders, probably stemming from 1989.

But the current team is tough, wily and highly competitive. I can almost stomach Jack Wighton, though not quite. Josh Hodgson might be my favourite non-Tigers player going around, such a clever and competitive fellow.

We have to remember that Ricky went all-in on a massive Raiders side in 2016 and they really should have played the GF that year, but for 2 super-close and tough losses. Then he let Boyd and Junior Paulo go, focused on building a more dynamic/mobile pack in anticipation of a faster game in 2019, and it has worked out very well. As you noted, also canny in developing some unknown entities, not just from UK, but locally as well with guys like Horsburgh.

Also, Raiders have only used 26 players in 2019, equal-lowest in the NRL with Cronulla and Tigers.

Sheens coached Ricky so the coaching style may have rubbed off on him.

True, and Sheens is a bit of a "Sir Tristram" of rugby league coaches, having coached, for a decent period, Sticky, Bellamy, Madge, John Morris, Paul Green, Mal Meninga?

Those Raiders side of the 80-90s produced a lot of fairly successful coaches.

Kevin Walters ,Daley .....but so did Bennett

Surely the talk has to start soon about whether Cronk is better than Johns. His record alone puts Joey to shame.

@GNR4LIFE Plus, Cronk isn't a drug cheat. Salary cap yes, but that was mainly on the club.

I hear that after this coming Grand Final, he personally has been in sides which made the Grand Final 9 years out of his 16 year career? Is that right? If so, then wow.

It’s his 9th gf and 4th in a row

most people probably still consider him below thurston and lockyer.

probably because he ia a less "spectactular" player even if he is more effective in getting positive results

Thank heavens the Storm era seems over...

Bellamy has one premiership.

Anyone claiming they won the others is insane...they cheated. Even we would win if we had double the cap.

Horrible club.

Their era’s over? They’ll be premiership favourites next year with Cronk retiring. They aren’t going anywhere.
