NRL Nines 2020...*Live Thread

Encouraging link play from Thompson with that second try to McIntyre. Got on the outside of two defenders to create a 3 on 1 that put Jennings away, he then got into first receiver to deliver a long sharp accurate spiral pass to centre field where the space was - has the awareness of where the ball needs to be.

That Metcalf kid from Manly looks good...did anyone watch him play?

Yep. Very skillful. Plenty of pace too.

Jennings looked good, maybe good signs

Looked good, especially when he bombed that try.

You talk tough but we all know you’ve got a soft spot for him.![0FE1E27E-AB1D-4F9C-B459-7FDC263BC0FE.jpeg](/assets/uploads/files/1581721503193-0fe1e27e-ab1d-4f9c-b459-7fdc263bc0fe.jpeg)

Arrow is overrated.

Now the penny drops.

When have I talked up Arrow? Honest player with a good work rate but not intimidating or overly skilful.

Not you in particular Avo, generally on here people thought he was a champion.

I never wanted him - I was hoping that he went to Syria.

Just another plodder that has been talked up.

I think its very hard to gauge a player in the 9's format for regular season footy, but Jennings did look fit and seemed to have a yard of extra pace. Walters looked balanced and had a decent passing game, possible hooker option even a bench option. Be good to see how the boys go tomorrow. Didnt get to see slimes game did Stefano play if so how'd he go?

Don't need pictures of him - know what he looks like unfortunately.

To bomb that try was really bad - players with his very limited talent can't afford to blow their chances, it will probably be his only chance for the year.

I reckon he’s a good solid player with high work rate but he’s not one of the elite forwards in the comp. Not worth his supposed price tag either imo.

He’s a long way from Jake T, Taumololo etc.

Stefano didn't play. Might get a chance today.

Thought we played ok in the first half, should have had an extra try if "Dumbarse" had been aware he actually had backup.
Unfortunately we fell off in attack in the second half - where have we seen that before. Defence wasn't too bad - hopefully we can put it together again today.

Walters seemed ok with what he did in that game but far too early to get carried away. Liked what I saw from Momo before he was injured, Thommo has improved his ball playing, Mikaele did well (can't say as I like the hair) and Mbye seems to have lost a bit of pace.

Keep our fingers crossed for this arvo.

Don’t know how you can say Mbye has lost pace, he was one of our better players. I’ll let them get away with having a poor second half considering it was their first game of the year and was 35 degrees but they’ll have to play better today.

Think it’s unfair to not give Jennings credit for this big run. Outpaced Cook for a good 40-50 metres which is a massive improvement on how he ran last year. Probably won’t get a first grade spot but still good he’s shown improvement. Thompson to start the year at wing but his spot will probably be the one that’s up for grabs which means they’ll all be working extra hard

?
The distance increases every 3 hours
Starting to read like a fishing story ?

It was at least 40 cmon ? from in our half to the 20 metre line. Still don’t think he starts the year in top grade

Warriors women’s side... I think

Thanks I’ll watch the replay. Interested to know if it swung momentum?

Yeah I agree... Good to see them go well first up but how this translates to real footy is yet to be seen.
Good for confidence for coach and players I guess and good for memberships.... God damn annoyed me no end in years past when we looked like we didn't give a stuff

ITs only nines and Ive been around long enough to temper my enthusiasm, but many positive signs:

- Jennings looked stronger faster and definitly less sluggish
- Great to see Luciano's flick to Tommy
- Our defence was generally good bt what I loved was the one on one defence, a very hard thing to master. We seemed to hit and stick. Im guessing this has been a big part of training.
- Walters looked good. he looked like what Reynolds should be, like Reynolds with the crazy dialed back.
- Thommo being Thommo

Watching at Wests Ashfield at the moment. If anyone likes oysters.. $1 each for the remainder of February.

I’m liking the look of Walters. I think he is the guy you put in if Benji is injured or retires. I still don’t understand what Cam Smith didn’t like about his play?
