NRL RD 3 2021..*Spoilers

So, where are the Cleary bashers who tried so hard to discredit him for last year and instead put it all down to Barrett?....Yeah, don’t think so.

Maybe they’ll credit Cameron Ciraldo now?

Love nothing better than seeing this Bulldog rabble go about there business. Fans were like wel make top 8 this year. Fair dinkum how naive were they. Even next year with Burton and addo carr, they still have not one decent forward.

One thing you can say about us is that we do have a decent pack. Its our backline that needs tinkering

So a merger is in order
The new Western Bulldogs

Watching this ridiculously boring game of footy just proves there is no way there should be expansion without a draft. The quality of players is just not available.

It's not that the quality of players aren't available. It's just that most of the high quality players have been herded into a select few teams (Roosters, Rabbits, Melbourne, etc) while the other teams feed off scraps. And when those other teams do somehow discover a star player they're almost immediately poached

NRL needs to sort out the cap system and ensure an even distribution of talent before even thinking about expansion

I don’t disagree about the herding, but clearly over 30 years the salary cap does not work. The only way to spread the talent is draft, especially if they are adding another team.

New rules doing the players no favours. Can't remember this many concussions a week. Fatigue leads to more lazy tackles which means head highs

Don't know if the comparison has been made earlier in this thread, but, as much as I hate Cleary and the Panthers, that play by Kikau was one of the best rugby league plays I've ever seen. And then watching RTS do something very similar with a try saving tackle today, my first thought was the Leuilua brothers watching from twenty metres away as Morris chipped to Tedesco for the opening try. Kikau and RTS was just 100% effort on a hopeless play with not a milimetre or moment to spare. I can't remember the last time I saw that sort of desperation from us and we've been playing at half speed so far this season. Rip in tomorrow, Tigers!

Na our backline is better in comparison to therr forward pack.

Honestly looking at our side I have no idea how we have only scored 3 tries. Lots of strike

Jet was in the hangar last week. He'll get 2 tries today. Still think we will lose though. Gerry The Germ to be Newcastle's best player.
Pearce is a deadset certainty to score a try.

I was thinking at half time that our effort in round 1 looked pretty good in comparison to the Warriors: we were 6 - 6 and the Raiders were lucky to have 6.

The thing that gets me is the incredible luck that favoured the Warriors. To play the Raiders with a 17 man advantage to 14 on a hot(ish) day in the ACT is fortuitous, but then to be awarded a try from a pass that was so blatantly forward that the recipient almost fell forward trying to catch it puts the cherry on the cake.

We are in competition with the Warriors for the bottom half of the 8. I hope we enjoy some similar luck when we play some of the top sides - we are going to need it.

Warriors were worthy winners. Credit where it is due.

Nah, they were lucky.

???Sure.
They were 20-odd points behind weren't they?

Yes, when things were more or less equal, the Warriors were being hammered.

But, over the whole 80 minutes when you have 17 players versus 13 fit players plus one player with busted ribs (who couldn't be replaced), throw in the new rules that speed the play up, add a hot(ish) day in the ACT, you have good fortune for the Warriors.
