I think the deal was good monetary wise but it was always going to hit the $2bil mark no matter what was being spouted in Newscorp media.
So the initial fta agreement of 4 FTA games on Nine looks like was never going to happen and was basically setup as a bargaining tool to get Fox to payup. Bit of a shame really this would have been a bonanza for the general public if half the games were on FTA.
Trying to work out who came out in front with this deal, Nine, Foxtel or the fans. I'm definitely ruling out fans, i think timeslots of 6pm Fridays and Nine selling back one of the FTA games was slap in the face to the average fan.
The NRL and Grant looked to have rushed this deal somewhat, they still had couple of years to make News/Fox sweat a little. Probably bowed to pressure from the clubs.
