NRL unhappy with judiciary member

There is apparently a huge jump in club revenues in the past 18mths also… But we know they wont spruik that as the clubs love to cry poor to the NRL for more money!

The NRL wonders why fans are deserting the game…look no further.

I always wonder where this ideal comes from 'fans are deserting the game'.

The Average Crowds are the Highest since the start of the NRL.
Memberships are the Highest since the start of the NRL.
TV Rights is the Highest since the start of the NRL.

Nope, it doesnt appear the Fans are Deserting the Game?!

Crowds are actually down to their lowest figure in over 10 years.
http://afltables.com/rl/crowds/summary.html

theyre down across most sports in australia. and taking an average from only up till round 22 is a bit unfair, last 4 rounds should pick it back up to perhaps above last years

probably even worse in the NRL given how crap RL stadiums and transport are in sydney. the renovations for parra and ANZ should help a fair bit

TV deals are going up 10-15% per year. 1 billion to 2 billion in 5 years

I am amazed Royce Arcliffe (please excuse the spelling) is even on the panel. Those older enough will remember Royce spent a lot of time fronting the panel for similar crimes as James. The guy was a serial offender, very skilful at the art of coat hangers, stiff arms and general biffo. I suppose its a bit like having Roger Rogerson chairing a police corruption enquiry

Considering the charge was line ball between grade 1 to grade 2 and the judiciary just had a period discussing the evidence and plea, I reckon it was a nice gesture from the bloke… I'm sure we would be happy if this courtesy was extended to any Tiger Player fronting the judiciary?

For sure…Tim Simoma got the benefit at the time the Media were banging on about how the Judiciary had no balls....

Never a truer word has been spoken SC.

I also remember this guy very well. Another analogy would be putting Dracula as CEO of the blood bank.

The whole MRC should be sacked because of the initial grading to start with - which was a joke. Then Ol' Mate opens his trap and James gets off.

Don't worry about the victim here as long as Ryan James is ok and the Titans are not inconvenienced.

Why do any of us even bother?…......

As we speak big Sam has been charged with Dangerous Contact to the head or Neck Grade 2..

Dessie will be using the..Ryan 'It's not his go' James… defence'...

Was Royce on the panel that night?

heres a call big sam to beat the charge, and parker to cop 5 weeks for throwing his head at sams boot, u heard it here 1st. lol

How, on the one hand, can they say they are happy that the correct process was followed, and on the other, say they are unhappy with a statement made by a panel member? Isn't the 'statement made' the matter that led to the process being questioned?

The MRC and the NRL are reactionary, so with all the media attention on the Tedesco tackle poor Sam will get the max the charge carries. He has no chance, not saying he doesn't deserve it, but fronting the MRC after they have copped some bad press is bad timing

Was he supposed to hide the fact that James( or any player) had an avenue to appeal the grading.
If the chance was there , all players should be made aware of it.
Not saying anything about a particular case.
If the NRL doesn't like it, change the rule.
No point in them getting dirty on a judiciary member for pointing it out

Think you are missing the point of the independent panel. They act as a quasi judiciary, so you can't have someone deciding the penalty providing suggestions on how you might get a reduced sentence. Means they are not independent.

So your saying that a judge never tells someone that he's just convicted that he's got a right to appeal on various grounds

They are not judge they are the jury and that's exactly what I'm saying….they say anything and they compromise their independence

My sentiments entirely ….. It's been 30 years since he played the game .... How the hell does he get on the panel ?

The judiciary member should be sacked. Simple as that. He broke the rules of his position to give a favourable outcome to an accused.

Incredibly unprofessional, especially within a legal framework.

He should have said nothing at all and i'm sure he knows it.

It's solely up to James' lawyer to make any decision on appeals, strategy etc. That's what they're paid for…!

Very well said

Not just that member, the entire process has become a joke. From the MRP process, to the grading, right throught to the judiciary, the dodgy loading system etc.

Corey is a hypocrite. Big Sam should claim self defence and he was worried about what Parker does to blokes when they are held on the ground and unable to defend themselves.

The show the video of him dropping an elbow on Tedesco's face in origin 3
