There is apparently a huge jump in club revenues in the past 18mths also… But we know they wont spruik that as the clubs love to cry poor to the NRL for more money!

I always wonder where this ideal comes from 'fans are deserting the game'.
The Average Crowds are the Highest since the start of the NRL.
Memberships are the Highest since the start of the NRL.
TV Rights is the Highest since the start of the NRL.
Nope, it doesnt appear the Fans are Deserting the Game?!
Crowds are actually down to their lowest figure in over 10 years.

@Tiger Watto said:Considering the charge was line ball between grade 1 to grade 2 and the judiciary just had a period discussing the evidence and plea, I reckon it was a nice gesture from the bloke… I'm sure we would be happy if this courtesy was extended to any Tiger Player fronting the judiciary?
@supercoach said:I am amazed Royce Arcliffe (please excuse the spelling) is even on the panel. Those older enough will remember Royce spent a lot of time fronting the panel for similar crimes as James. The guy was a serial offender, very skilful at the art of coat hangers, stiff arms and general biffo. I suppose its a bit like having Roger Rogerson chairing a police corruption enquiry

For sure…Tim Simoma got the benefit at the time the Media were banging on about how the Judiciary had no balls....

If the chance was there , all players should be made aware of it.
Not saying anything about a particular case.
If the NRL doesn't like it, change the rule.
No point in them getting dirty on a judiciary member for pointing it out

Think you are missing the point of the independent panel. They act as a quasi judiciary, so you can't have someone deciding the penalty providing suggestions on how you might get a reduced sentence. Means they are not independent.

@Balmain Boy said:The judiciary member should be sacked. Simple as that. He broke the rules of his position to give a favourable outcome to an accused.
Incredibly unprofessional, especially within a legal framework.
He should have said nothing at all and i'm sure he knows it.
It's solely up to James' lawyer to make any decision on appeals, strategy etc. That's what they're paid for…!
