The match will be telecast live on Foxsports tomorrow at 10.30am.

Why so early?, this is the sort of time that they play the Under 11's, normally Fox make 3 games of it at one ground so is this a one off for the NSW Cup?.

Appropriately the team played like 11 year olds. What a waste of talent.

I only got to see the tail end of the first half before heading off to the local show, at that stage I saw 2 bombed tries and the Cutters basically gifted a try on the stroke of half time.
I'm not long home and was hoping that the side could stage one of their customary fight backs but after reading all the previous posts I guessed that the side lost so I checked out the NSWRL Cup site to find the result and they went down 14-24, so it m'kay sounds like a 10 point loss but in reality it's a huge defeat as there is so much talent in the side that 'Isn't' being realised.
Has Fletcher had the team for too long?, he should have had at LEAST one Premiership by now, is Fletcher being given the Game Plan from Taylor?, on paper at times the Reserve Grade side appears to be a better side than what turns out for the NRL so why have they been beaten for what is it now?, 3 weeks in a row!.

Wouldn't know anything for a fact.

I do think the lower grades are being used to bolster the NRL side when needed, to try out people in different positions and probably to play to an NRL influenced game plan.

That is not a bad thing if it helps the NRL side and the younger players are more prepared for when they are promoted.

Also with Brooks, Moses, Lovett, Santi, Lodge, Cherrington and to a lesser extent Siro etc. missing from this team - it leaves big gaps and influences team cohesion.

I would not necessarily blame the team or Fletch - just new times, new plans and ideas.

Shocking display!!!

Hoeter, Lodge, Akauola, and Santi (second half ), were the only ones to earn their pay today. The rest were a disgrace. The Cutters forwards treated ours like 10 year olds.

When Akauola was brought on he was very effective with his offloading and great defence. Then he disappeared! If he was not injured and the coach took him off, then he should be dropped as well as most of the team.

Interesting. Always been a fan of Akaoula and have been wondering why he seems to be out of favour. Good to hear he showed some form today, hope that has been the only thing holding him back.

Its a disgrace what they have done to him this year. Who goes from 5/8 to prop. Now a supposed reserve grade bench player who only just made the team. Seriously.

If this keeps up he will have the last laugh and join a decent club.

It has Jason Taylors smell all over it.

I think he has bucket loads of natural ability and really believed he would hold a place in our top 17 this year. Have heard he has defensive issues, and while not comparing, used to hear the same things about Koro. Cant see him being satisfied with a bench spot in the NSW Cup. Unless coming back from injury something is definitely amiss.

Woeful effort.

No reason for Lodge not to be back in first grade next week.

He does always look the goods attitude-, skill- and strength-wise.

What was the final score or should I just hope we improve next week ??

24-14…no real indication of the Cutters dominance...

Thanks mate . I'm guessing barring injuries the NRL side won't be touched for a month

At least a few who are screaming for change got to see why things haven't changed

I recorded this and watched it this arvo. Pretty average really and we played with no structure.

Bullock - Surely young Grant starts ahead of him based on enthusiasm alone?

Funaki - should play on edge. When he switched to the backrow, he looked like he belonged there.

Fine - one of our best. Played the first 25min to wide, and once he played tighter on his edge looked good.

Not much room for halves today, so hard to gauge how Drinkwater is travelling. But as he was Captain, I was expecting more from him to rally the troops.

Lodge went well… Needs another week to get some air in his lungs.

Match Report: NSW Cup Round 7

Wests Tigers NSW Cup side have suffered another tough loss this morning, going down 24-14 to the Illawarra Cutters in their Round 7 clash at Campbelltown.

Trailing 10-0 early in the match, the hosts showed plenty of promise before half-time and again after the break — with Tim Moltzen scoring his first try since returning from injury — but they were unable to hold out Illawarra, who emerged with a 10-point win.

After dominating possession and field position early, it was the Cutters who struck first in the seventh minute when a flat ball from dummy half found Shannon Wakeman, who spun his way over the line to score next to the posts. Tyron Cranston had no problems with the extras and gave the visitors an early 6-0 lead at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

A 40/20 kick from Kris Keating shortly after gave Illawarra a chance to extend their lead and they did just that in the 18th minute as a ball to ground found Yaw Kiti Glymin, who sped down the wing to touch down in the corner and push the lead to 10-0.

Cranston was unable to convert from the sideline, leaving the Cutters’ lead at 10-0.

The inclusion of Matt Lodge and Jordan Grant off the interchange saw Wests Tigers lift their intensity and potency in the middle of the field and that soon produced points as Penani Manumalealii and Delouise Hoeter combined well to put Kurtis Rowe over.

Josh Drinkwater was unable to convert, leaving the score at 10-4 after 27 minutes.

Both teams would see opportunities go begging before the break, with the best chance coming to Inno Inosesio, who spilled the ball over the line after a good offload from Lodge had given him the opportunity to level the match after 35 minutes.

That would prove to be costly for the home side as the Cutters quickly went up field and crossed moments before the half-time siren, with Keating diving over next to the posts.

Shannon Crook had no problems with the extras and extended the visitors’ lead to 16-4, which is how it would read as both teams went to the sheds at Campbelltown Stadium.

Needing to make some inroads on the scoreboard, Wests Tigers started the stronger in the second half with a number of close opportunities through Inosesio and Rowe, but were unable to make them count as the Cutters’ defensive line held firm.

An infringement on the dummy half would give Crook the opportunity to push his side further in front in the 61st minute, and he did just that, extending their lead to 18-4.

However, that would not last long, as a sharp grubber from Drinkwater close to the line saw Moltzen dive over to score his first try of the 2015 season.

An unsuccessful conversion from Drinkwater left the score at 18-8 after 64 minutes.

Illawarra added another penalty goal in the 69th minute following another ruck infringement to extend their lead to 20-8, and they would put the icing on the cake moments later as Charly Runciman scored off a grubber from Keating that split Shannon McDonnell and Hoeter to extend the visitors lead to 24-8 after 74 minutes.

Lodge would cross for a consolation try in the 77th minute as he charged on to a good short ball close to the line, but it would be all in vain for the hosts, as Illawarra held on to emerge from Campbelltown Sports Stadium with a 24-14 victory on the day.

Wests Tigers will look to bounce back with a win when they take on the Wentworthville Magpies in their Round 8 match on Sunday, April 26 at Ringrose Park.

FULL TIME — Illawarra Cutters 24 (Wakeman, Glymin, Keating, Runciman tries; Cranston 1/2 goals; Crook 3/3 goals) def. Wests Tigers 14 (Rowe, Moltzen, Lodge tries; Drinkwater 1/3 goals)

How'd Cherrington go?

Personally, he looked like he was short of a run.

Had a few runs, provided good ball, but was one dimensional.

For a team who had only won 1 game all year, the Cutters Forwards were really dominant today and we struggled to match them.

Awful performance our forwards were badly beaten except for Lodge and as for the backline Hoeter was our best.

Fletcher is old news time for some new coaching blood for this grade ..he has been around to long , a talented team playing with no heart and a crap attitude the buck stops with the coach.

time to go fletcher ur team lacks any go in defence and the attack is terrible. he has killed a great prospect in funaki playing him in the front row, he is wasted there akalouka was the best on field yet only played 20 odd min in the second 1/2, another player he has killed playing him at 5/8 prop wing, he is a second rower. lamar was terrible he looks like he wants to be some where else. rowe molzten mcdonnell and several others need to be stood down as there effort was woeful. yet mr fletcher will pick them all next week. full credit to lodge, grant, santi, drinkwater, hoeter, akalouka they tried there hearts out the rest are bullgers.

The whole team looked like they wanted to be somewhere else. Akauloa, Lodge, Santi and Innosessio were the only ones who could hold their heads up high.

The attitude was very disappointing considering the experience in the side. Yet there were so many players out of position. Lulia on the wing? Funaki at prop? Moltzen at centre? Fine was one of the centres of the year last year and now we'replaying him in an already overcrowded back row. He's he'll eventually end up back row but when we're short of centres it really makes no sense.

Liolevave needs a wake up call. Was very quiet.

Next week Moltz to go back to 5/8\. Penani to go to Ron massey. Fine to centre. Funaki to back row. Grant to start for Bullock. Lulia to centre. Luani may well start with Cherry on the bench too.

Lodge for Buchanon is an obvious swap next week for NRL.
