Did antbody notice Simpkin was taken off early for the second week in a row .By the way Liddle scored twice in reserve grade and reportedly man of the match.IM sure you Simkin lovers will ignore that as usual

Simpkin needs a break. His last match was very ordinary. Liddle to start for mine. You could have Simpkin on the bench.

Very ordinary is over the top. Watched it over and yeah he the threw a few average passes but he got our forwards running into the ball well and ran well too. Not his best performance but not worthy of being dropped to the bench - Liddle is better suited for the bench role anyway.

His passing was poor, high, low, behind and forward. He needs a break to regroup, it’s not a punishment.

A few of them were, not all. Remember he's played 3 games, he's not getting demoted to the bench, he'll share some time with Liddle hopefully. There's no way he played so poorly that he'd be dropped

He needs a break to refresh. You need to manage his NRL career, otherwise you’ll end up with a cooked career before it starts. His passing game was a clear sign that he is over extending. He can start the week after. It’s a team sport and that’s how it should be viewed.

Took liddle 5 weeks of poor service to get dropped and you want him gone after 1 game. He'll get a break when Liddle comes off the bench. I'd be happy if they played around 49 mins each or 50 and 30

Talau probably suspended this week - James Roberts out for a month. This week guessing Liddle will come in so Simpkins can play less minutes with Mbye to centre. Guessing Leilua will shift back to the right hand side mbye on the left.

No not gone. Rested for his own benefit. Big difference.

Some pretty ordinary defence in there for some of the Dragons tries but Liddle looked sharp out of dummyhalf with his tries.

Was Hoffman number 5? His D was very ordinary in those highlights if so...

How has Madden been going since the Jackson Hastings signing.

I imagine he could have either accepted the challenge or gone into his shell. I would say the club is looking for him to demand selection in first grade. Step up and call all the shots. I worry we wont get the response out of him we need if he hasnt shown it already.

Madden is pretty good tbh. Like I am confident that he'd be as good as Brooks in first grade already. He doesn't appear to be a world beater, mostly because he doesn't have a dynamic running game. But as far as game manager halves go he's pretty solid. Makes far better decisions than Brooks. He doesn't have as much X-Factor but seems to have more time, and poise. And his kicks find the grass.

Guess my question is what does Maguire need to see from him.

I would say yes. I think Madden is arguably the best reserve grade halfback in the comp this year based on what I've seen of it. Given Clune has 4 years on him I would say Madden has the better ceiling also.

Probably just needs to bide his time til an opportunity in first grade arises so Maguire can see how her performs there. I am confident that should Brooks go down, Madden will go straight in for a trial by fire.

Fair enough.

Im a little worried although he is a great little organiser that he might need to come out of himself a bit more and be more dominant and vocal to really get Maguires attention.

Yeah he doesn't have the swagger/arrogance/confidence mix. But there are plenty of great halves that were more reserved like that. Darren Lockyer springs to mind.
