Wests Tigers have named their NSW Cup side to take on the Newtown Jets in a trial match this Saturday, February 21, at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

Kickoff for the match is at 5:00pm, with NRL kicking off later that night at 7:00pm.

After recording a comprehensive 22-8 win over the Penrith Panthers in their most recent trial match, Paul Fletcher's side will be boosted this week by the return of a number of experienced players to the team following their recent stint with the NRL squad.

Sitaleki Akauola, Josh Drinkwater, Nathan Brown and Kyle Lovett all return following an impressive performance in Alice Springs last Friday against the Parramatta Eels, while young guns Manaia Cherrington, Lamar Liolevave, Dallas Graham and Salesi Funaki have all been included in this week's 20-man squad to take on the Newtown Jets.

Kurtis Rowe and Keith Lulia are also set for their first start following recent injuries.

In NRL, James Tedesco has been named to make his return from injury, while Luke Brooks is set for his first trial match having returned from the NRL All Stars.

General Admission tickets are available for the match for $12 (reserved tickets for $18), with Wests Tigers ticketed Members able to gain free entry to the match.

I doubt Luani will start ahead of Cherrington all year, but I'm sure he'd spend some time there given that Manaia is most likely to go up come Origin time.

Strong looking pack though, and there's still the likes of Hoeter and one of Naiqama/Nofoaluma/Richards/Lawrence/Simona to drop down from the NRL trial team to strengthen the backs for the season proper. Maybe even McDonnell too if he earns his spot.

Also, who was it that said to keep an eye on Ryland Jacobs? Coaching staff obviously do too.

Yeh I noticed that too. He's a 20's player isn't he? Interesting that he is the one chosen to play up.

Can't really get my head around Sitaleki at 5/8.

Luani played great last weekend at 6 would put him there. Andy and Asipeli also shined last week with massive defence. This team looks real solid. Forward pack all FG material. Going to be a good game

Only thing I can think of is a role similar to that of a John Sutton or Luke Lewis when he filled in at 6\. Wouldn't have thought it would suit though. How long til Moltzen is back?

maybe a bit of respect being shown there by Fletch… Good on him if so, and I dont think anyone is confused with Mania's role at the club.

Strong squad!

This is a great squad. Not sure about 5/8 though. This team gets me more excited than the first grade squad.

I expect Luani is there to take the heat out of the game, and will move to 5/8 when Cherrington comes on.

Strong bench too. I want to watch this game!!

Big shout out to Keith (4 try) Lulia coming back from his broken neck….

Strong looking team although Sitaleki at 6 is strange. You would have to think Moltzen would slot in there once he returns from injury.

Where is Chance Peni, I haven't heard anything injury wise and haven't seen him anywhere.

Yeh I'm starting to think something like that has happened

Thats a really strong team. Some decent depth has been built up over the last couple of years, we have options now.

Kiss my rear end Sheens.

Agreed Akaoula is the story here.

I like the guy, he is immensely talented and has a real aura about him but he is 100% a work in progress.

I can only assume JT has seen something during the off season and sees him as a ball playing lock, kind of like Sutton, Mateo. It could be that the 5/8 role at this lower level will help with that development.

Personally i think centre could be where he spends most of his NRL career, but thats just me.
