NSW Game 1 team

James Roberts' papers must be marked never to rep, whether its because hes playing for a QLD club, or its just because he's a flog…Id say its the former, because Fafita, Hayne, Fergo and klemmer made the team

Hayne and Peats play for a QLD team.
NSW could of picked a much stronger team, Klemmer shouldn't of got picked before Vaughan. Hayne is lucky to be there, is not a centre and hasn't been setting the world on fire in the NRL- **Lozza must love spooning Jarryd in camp whilst Haynsie whispers his list of "dreams" into his ear.** Dylan Walker should of got a centre spot on recent form.
Peats is mud, Farah would of done a better job.

You're friggin hilarious!

Glad to hear a few of you sticking up for Robbie Farah. He is the incumbent, his recent form has been very good. No one else has played well enough to warrant a change. Peats has been very ordinary since he returned from injury. Robbie should be the NSW hooker.

On form he probably does deserve his spot but, I think it was the right call to leave him out this year. He's 33, it's time they looked to the future. Peats, Wallace, Mciness, Cook and hopefully Liddle in a couple of years. These guys need to get a chance because Farah isn't going to be playing much longer.

I think Tedesco's form hasn't warranted a selection to the blues and neither does Woods. Should have picked Vaughn to be honest. He's on fire.

NSW are using one of my junior clubs as a training base for games 1 and 3 and also doing small talk with them, the under 8s(Cudgen Hornets) this week. My Dad has been sponsoring them for years so he is super stoked.

Very exciting for the area

Nathan Peats is a Lewo Old Boy, been a long time since we've had a rep footballer out of the ex-student ranks.

Thought unfair on Farah after Daley saying he would support him when Taylor was playing funny buggers last year.
Okay, give Peats a run but if crunch time comes, say after losing game one maybe, I reckon Farah will be back at 9\. Has never let NSW down and blowed if I know why he's been snubbed. All that experience, 100% efforts and good form with Souths being wasted.

Im a little surprised at the Farah ommission, He still a very solid player.

Hows Peats it terms of defense??

I was surprised too. I was listening to Sterlo talk about it, basically they wanted Mitchell Pierce too be paired with a hooker that would give him more ball. So essentially a JT argument, lets kick out the successful hooker to allow our failed upcoming halfback and 5/8 more ball. The only difference is Maloney is actually a decent 5/8.

Maybe Farah is wrong for the team, definitely great in defense and I think the only hooker who has really taken it too Cameron Smith. Yet Farah is used to being the center of attention and not playing a straight hooker role, can't say he has done wonders for Souths and probably does not deserve Origin this season.

Lets see what will happen. NSW have a lot of speedy backs, decent forwards but lacklustre halves. QLD I think have a worse front row and the backs are more defensive. Expecting JT (Thurston) to just walk in the starting side and run ragged at Mitch, hope Peats can contain Smith but I like his odds better then Pierce.

So how do people feel about Mitchell Pearce's inclusion? I think he has been outstanding during the back end of last year and the beginning of this year and really deserves his spot in the team. He's just always going hard at the defensive line. He's one of the few halves that really takes on the defense and doesn't take a backwards step.

On club form he deserves the position but on Origin form he doesn't. Its hard to know what Daley prefers because he seems to favor one or the other depending on the player.

There really isn't many options for NSW and with Daley going with Peats. Pearce will have no excuses because he should get plenty of the ball.

He has had countless opportunities with the Blues, but it was against a very strong QLD team. This will be his best chance at steering NSW to a series win. His kicking has always been a major issue in origin with almost 80% going to QLD on the full.

I feel his game has changed somewhat though. I don't remember charging at the defense and playing with so much energy before. There isn't really anyone that deserves to be picked ahead of Pearce either. We'll see how he goes but, I'm really eager to watch how he plays next week.

We're just gonna have to wait and see with Pearce. His club form has always been fairly good to outstanding at times, but geez he just goes missing in Origin games, like he's too scared to take control or do anything with the ball in hand! Hopefully he has grown up somewhat and we'll see a more mature and more involved halfback emerge, but I won't be holding my breath.

Well there is a counter-argument, that they have kicked out the aging hooker to give the resurgent half more ball.

No argument Pearce and Maloney have both had lean periods in their careers, both have had middling rep form.

If there were other halfback options, we might have seen them, unfortunately the reality is in the last 7-10 years there have hardly been any prominent emerging NSW halfbacks, nobody to really cement their place as a lock selection since the back end of the Johns / Kimmorley / Fittler days.

Pearce gets picked because the other options are weak, it's the same reason Michael Jennings kept getting picked, same reason why Jarryd Hayne has just walked back into the team. In some positions we are very lean in this state.

But back to the Farah thing, I still don't think Tigers should have got rid of him, but when you get multiple people now saying they just think Farah doesn't give enough fast/quality ball to the halves, there must be something to it. You can dismiss this as silly or ill-informed, but first Taylor and now Daley/Sterling, I mean these guys know something about footy.

If they had Hodkinson at half then they probably would have picked Farah at hooker. Unfortunately for Farah the Knights reggies couldn't spare Hodkinson.
