So our reserve grade isn’t playing out of Campbelltown? Bloody hell. They really hate c town don’t they that’s a real shame.

Yeah I'm trying to get my head around this decision, seems to me that Wests Magpies have just abandoned Campbelltown. Considering West Ashfield funds both Wests Magpies and Wests Tigers leave me considering the implications for the Wests Tigers.

When you get 35 people and a dog to a Canturbury Cup game there is not much to abandon..

As stated in the article dependant on Scheduling ..Canterbury Cup will be played at Campbelltown prior to NRL games..

Junior Football will be played out of Campbelltown

I guess that is a point, but with a lot of Magpies games on TV the last few years I would have thought that would be part of maintaining the connection in supporters minds.

@geo did you see this decision coming mate?

Yes..

Has the decision come from Wests Magpies football club, Wests Ashfield or Wests Tigers?

Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club (WSDRLFC)

Thanks mate, that makes a bit more sense to me. I knew you would have the info on this.

So I am guessing this is about trying to increase people attending games through the nostalgia link, if they go down the Newton Henson Park angle it could work really well for them in increasing their revenue.

To me I saw the Magpies playing in Campbelltown as an important aspect of our move to a centralised stadium.

That's the idea..the one off return to Lidcombe games draw a decent crowd 4-5K ..they hope to build off that..

In all honesty a feeder team does little to increase anything when it comes to NRL these days...crowd or memberships..

It may hold a special place for us oldies..but zero effect on the ..I want it now NRL generation..

They will play at Leichhardt too...if sceduals match..

It’s really disappointing. We should be trying to promote Campbelltown not move away from it just makes no sense to me at all.

Can’t get the locals enthusiastic about the Wests Tigers. Haven’t been able to for years. Time to cut our losses.

Yeah, this actually makes it more likely that I would attend a game. I agree that it doesn't make much difference to an NRL team where the feeder team plays, just more of an optics thing with us claiming the area.

They don’t do anything to get the locals excited.... last year vs bulldogs was a great crowd at Campbelltown they can get good crowds. They don’t even advertise the games around here yet I see advertisements for Penrith games everywhere ?

To be honest the Magpies also failed to engage the local community, I guess that most people there already have other teams they follow.

Whole lot of new families in Gregory hills, oran park and surrounding areas. It’s a gold mine for new fans and talented youngsters really

The most important aspect is to maintain the juniors link out there, setting up the academy out there would be a big boost to the club.

For some reason engaging those families hasn't worked.

Hopefully they are focusing on that. A lot of boys from out here especially in the group 6 region get lost to Paramatta and bulldogs.

Close to home, easy to park there and it’s a nice little ground to watch footy with your mates or family. Always enjoy my day there
