Wests Magpies would like to advise its members and supporters of New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) senior competition participation for Season 2023.

In 2023, the Western Suburbs Magpies will feature in the premier open age NSWRL competition, the NSW Knock-on Effect Cup. The KOE Cup squad will be based at Lidcombe Oval for training and home games alongside the Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg (U/21) side.

This solidifies not only the ongoing Wests Magpies investment into Lidcombe Oval alongside Cumberland Council, but is a big part of ensuring Western Suburbs DNA runs through our rugby league teams participating at the highest level in NSW.

With these two sides making Lidcombe Oval their home for 2023, the club will not be fielding a team in the Ron Massey Cup (RMC) this upcoming season, with Ryde-Eastwood Hawks continuing their relationship with Wests Magpies as a feeder club.

At a junior pathways level, Western Suburbs Magpies will continue to field teams that represent the Macarthur Region in the SG Ball, Harold Matthews, Laurie Daley and Andrew Johns Cups, all training and playing in the Campbelltown/Camden LGA.

Since 2018, our State Cup presence has allowed the Western Suburbs Magpies to remain a much-loved and recognisable part of the rugby league community. While the NSWRL KOE Cup draw is still being drafted, we can confirm that we will be hosting at least seven KOE Cup matches at Lidcombe Oval in 2023, including feature clashes against Newtown Jets, North Sydney Bears, South Sydney Rabbitohs, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and St George Illawarra Dragons.

The club will continue to work hard to ensure all of our members and supporters feel that the NSW KOE Cup Magpies represent them, as well as the long history Western Suburbs have in the game of rugby league.

We look forward to seeing you at all the grounds in 2023 to cheer on our Magpies Junior Reps and our NSW KOE Cup Magpies as we continue to champion the much-loved Western Suburbs legacy in harmonious partnership with Wests Tigers.
