NYC Live Game Thread vs Roosters 2nd Final

So pumped now. Makes Grand Final day so much more exciting. Hope they can get the little things right for the next game. Lets hope this next one goes into triple overtime!

Nerve wracking ending….well done to the boys.
Awesome effort to put all thats gone on from their so called senior, mentor, leader players coaches and admin in the club - behind them and play like this

Congratulations to the Junior Tigers! A great game. Well done to Todd Payten on his coaching efforts with this team.

You beauty!!!! Great stuff by the young guns. Pitifully biased commentary from Kimmorley, it was as though he had a family member playing for Roosters or had some cash on them. Disgraceful.

We got shafted in the penalty count. Our blokes were penalised for hands and forearms to the head of their prop Napa….he did exactly the same to our prop in the 1st half and nothing was done.

Mulcahy's shoulder charge 1 metre out from our line that led to a Roosters try was sheer madness, wouldn't have been surprised if Payton dragged him from the field for that :wtf

How about the crusher tackle on our centre in the 72nd minute???? Again nothing was done.

The ref stopping the play when the Roosters prop Evans was down....even though he was 70 metres away from the action  He then gets up after giving his side a valuable breather in defence.

In the last minute when our blokes pushed their winger into touch and the ref blew time off after Roosters packed the quick scrum. I was of the belief that becaause he went into touch and it wasn't from an error that the clock should be left running...providing that we are not wasting time deliberately getting the scrum fed. Does anyone here know the rules on that one???? Coz I am interested to know.

The boys played pretty solid all-round and really should have won by more, we created a lot of chances early in the game that we didn't capitalize on.

Was fantastic to see how stoked the boys were to win  Especially Brown hobbling to the celebrating throng! Hope he is ok to play next week.

We have some really good young boys there and I am sure a few of them will make the grade in the NRL.

Very proud supporter here!!! :righton:

Good game, our defence was very good, except that right side hole, our 5/8 does not want to tackle ?
I was impressed by Rowe, why we did not play him at FB when Tedesco got injured? Very good support play and fearless runner, surely Moltzen cannot play FB before this guy
This game was so simple, pass it to Marika and he will win us a game. Men of the match definitely.
Nafolouma was fantastic, I think Utai and Tuqiri shall be 2nd option.
Our forwards made the platform, I do not remember the game when our forwards dominated the game as today, every set they gained over 60m, fantastic effort. Brown was again the best, and Lowitt wasn't much behind.
I like what I see from Fine, that tackle won us the game.
IMHO if Miller can play like in 2nd half consistently he would be our preferred 7.

3 Marika
2 Nafolauma
1 Brown

Go Tigers

Poor Brown, hope he makes the grandfinal. Our under 20's forwards are all stocky nuggets who ran the ball hard against a Roosters side that was bigger than some NRL sides. Massive contrast to some of our powderpuffs in first grade.

I was having a beer with a souths supporter while watching so i couldnt concentrate, but it looked like Miller stepped up…..????

The person I am really impressed with is Payten..he made a lot of tough decisions 4 weeks out from finals and above all built the self belief and attitude to go all the way. What a good coach he may very well be in the not too distant future

Koroibete hat-trick helps Wests Tigers U20s to 28-22 win over Roosters

Wests Tigers Under 20s advanced through to the Grand Final next Sunday after a heart stopping 28-22 win over the Sydney Roosters this afternoon at ANZ Stadium.

Fijian winger Marika Koroibete bagged a hat-trick of tries in the courageous win.

Todd Payten’s men had the better of it in the first half after the Roosters came up with plenty of unforced errors. It lead to plenty of opportunities down at their end of the field which included the first chance of the match when Mosese Fotuaika went perilously close.

In the 13th minute the big forward charged at the line only to lose the ball just before he could ground it.

Wests Tigers continued to keep the momentum with quick play the balls and good metres up field.

In the 19th minute winger David Nofoaluma made a good break from dummy half which laid the platform for another good attacking opportunity.

However Matt Mulcahy’s pass could not find Nofoaluma out on the right side of the field a few plays later when a try looked certain.

In the 27th minute the Roosters got the first try of the day when their winger, Usaia O’Sullivan went over in the right corner. It was off the back of some good lead up work from their forward pack which had the Tigers back pedalling. The kick from Chris Taripo was unsuccessful. 4-0 Roosters.

Wests Tigers returned serve just before half time when Koroibete scooted down the left touchline.

Fullback Kurtis Rowe managed to draw the Roosters winger and put Koroibete into space and the young Fijian did the rest.

Roosters fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck did his best to bring Koroibete down just metres from the line but he could not hold on and Koroibete crawled the rest of the way to plant the ball over in the corner as the Roosters cover defence converged.

Miller’s kick was unsuccessful and both teams went to the break with the score at 4 apiece.

Wests Tigers got the crucial try seven minutes after the break thanks to David Nofoaluma who ran through some tired Roosters defence after he picked the ball up from dummy half.

Miller converted to take the score to 10-4.

Wests Tigers then proceeded to make an error from the kick off which put the Roosters in good field position. However as they spun the ball out to the right, a pass went down, only for it to fall close to Koroibete, who picked it up and ran 85 metres to score under the sticks.

Miller converted for a 16-4 lead.

The Roosters needed to score next and they did thanks to their half back Rhyse Jacks who bumped off some lazy Tigers defence. Taripo converted to trail 16-10 after 56 minutes.

Miller then set up Koroibete’s hat-trick after he threw a beautiful bullet like cut out pass to the winger who had an easy run to the line. Miller converted for a 22-10 lead after 60 minutes.

It got better for the Tigers when Miller got a try of his own in the 65th minute.
The half back attacked the Roosters’ right side defence again with another cut out ball to Koroibete who made a dart down the touchline. He found Miller in support who ran away for the try. Miller’s kick was successful and it was 28-10.

The action came thick and fast after that.

Four minutes later, Wests Tigers fullback Rowe spilled a bomb and Curtis Rona picked it up to score under the sticks. Taripo converted and all of a sudden, the Roosters still had a chance at 28-16.

The try turned the momentum back in the Roosters favour and just two minutes later they came close again. O’Sullivan’s try was disallowed and it was thanks to Koroibete whose desperate tackle was just enough to force the Roosters winger into touch just before the ball was grounded.

In the 76th minute though, the Roosters got the try they so desperately needed when second rower Rhyse Martin crashed over.

All eyes turned to Taripo who needed to make the conversion to keep his side’s Grand Final hoped alive. He didn’t disappoint which made the final minutes frantic. 28-22.

Wests Tigers had opportunities to close the game out but the pressure told. An error from Soni Paasi gave the Roosters the field position they needed.
They marched down field making easy metres in search of a converted try to take the game into extra time.

The ball was thrown every which way and the Tigers defence was struggling to contain the onslaught.

With just one minute left on the clock, the ball was spun to the left but Taripo was bundled into touch just metres from the tryline.

Wests Tigers won the ensuing scrum and held the ball long enough to make sure of the win.

Final score

Wests Tigers 28 (Marika Koroibete 3, David Nofoaluma and Jacob Miller tries. Miller 4/5 conversions defeated Sydney Roosters 22 (Usaia O’Sullivan, Ryley Jacks, Curtis Rona and Rhyse Martin tries. Taripo 3/4 conversions

He'll be up there with Hasler and Bellamy in the future, I'm calling it now. Anyone can see he has the nous for it.
