NYC Team Announcement: Finals, Week 1

Wests Tigers NYC Holden Cup Coach Brett Kimmorley has named his side to take on the Canberra Raiders in an Elimination Final this Sunday, September.

Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 1:30pm at Allianz Stadium, prior to the NRL Elimination Final between the Cronulla Sharks and South Sydney Rabbitohs at 4:00pm.

The match will be telecast live via Fox Sports 1 (subscription required).

Needing to win this week in order to keep their premiership hopes alive, Wests Tigers head into Sunday's clash with plenty of confidence after their last-gasp win over the Dragons last weekend. Kimmorley's side have now recorded three wins and a draw in their last four matches, but know that they'll need to step up again on Sunday as they come up against a Raiders side that they're yet to beat this year despite leading in both meetings.

In the only change to last week's side that beat the Dragons, Australian Schoolboy Ray Stone has been named on the interchange bench in place of Thomas Grealy.

A late inclusion last week, Lamar Liolevave has not been named for Sunday's match.

Strong side which will be stronger with Ray Stone back from injury. I enjoy his impact of the interchange. Sironen, Woods, Stone and Cassel are talented in the second row and lock.

I do like the inclusion of Stone on the bench, top young player. However having a halfback, prop and 2 second rowers on the bench just doesn't seem like the right balance, although i know Mapesone plays a bit of hooker too.

Still at this level JJ is a 60-70 minute prop and Junior probably a 50-60 min. Esan could maybe play a bit of prop but he's much better out wide. None of our starting back row can play prop either.

If Martin shows up we should win this comfortably. Should have beaten them twice already this season. Can't believe we lost last time when scores were level after the siren and we had the ball!

Is Noddy contracted 2016?

Noddy is being talked up as a potential replacement for Taylor, so yes, he'll be here next year.

I think we'll get done today. The raiders beat us twice during the year. Don't rate this team nearly as much as the NYC teams of 2013/14 and they didn't get past week 2 of the semis. Can't see this team doing as good or better. Than again you never know with NYC, last years grand final was between 7th and 8th, it really is a lottery.
