Official NSW Team for Game I

Gidley - another Buhrer selection howler.

Honestly a utility is a mythical need nowadays, as others have said, Lewis and Bird can cover these positions.

Why disrupt the backline/hooker combination when they are all working together into the game only to be subbed on by an obligatory perception that players will get tired. They are all 80 minute players FFS. Game 1 last year proved this.

If they take Farah off that'll do me.

Oh and Pearce, this is the reason why we won't score and won't achieve field position.

Interesting.

IMO, that is the best possible line-up, mix of youth and experience and Merrin could be used in the front row or back row.

Agreed. That is a matched side to take on QLD. And really the only logical choice to threaten us (QLD) :sunglasses:

Cannot justify Grant not being in there at all
Hoffman? No. And a no brainer there really.
Gidley, self explanatory

Is Daley putting a lot of money on QLD?

Gidley I wish you the best in recovery but this is good news for NSW. Possibly Woods has a chance now?

I would bring in Grant. Looking at the Qld bench there is not a lot of size there, it is an opportunity for NSW to reshuffle the pack.

Grant
Farah
Tamou
Bird
Hoffman
Gallen
(this starting pack is good enough to match it with Qld, Hoffman for Scott is the only difference from game 3 last year where they did the job)
Fifita
Lewis
Merrin
Watmough
(Fifita and Watmough will both make an impact when they come on. Merrin although playing lock is more than capable in the front row and gives a lot of size and go forward. Lewis has always done a good job coming off the bench, and this should be no different, all 4 are very mobile, yet there is enough size on this bench to steam roll the Qld bench)

Now watch Daley pick McCrone or Josh Reynolds on the bench.

i agree with everything you have said here. the likelihood of daley going for someone like mccrone or reynolds is exactly why i dont understand the gidley hate… would anyone really prefer these two over gidley?

It's more the fact that NSW would benefit more from a forward on the bench.

that's fair enough, and I'd prefer a fourth forward too. but if we're going to pick a utility, gidley is the best man for the job by a long way. the criticism of gidley is over-the-top IMO.

I still cannot believe they let Daley take charge of NSW. It's rugby league at its best and we have morons running the shop.. Wtf

How can you say that? didn't you read the article yesterday? Loz is mr unhateable

Still no replacement for Gidley named? Amateur hour in Blues camp. They should have known who was going to replace him the moment he was ruled out. Daley should have already known what he was going to do if this circumstance arose, seeing as Rothfield already knew the team last Friday. Unbelievable.
