Moltzen can play fullback for the rest of the year. He'll come good. He has the makings of a great fullback just needs to get positioning and catching together. He's one of the best attacking fullbacks in the comp imo. Just bash the living Jesus out of him at training under the high ball and he'll get the hang of it quick smart.

Yep and he proved it today. He is a great attacking player and looked our most dangerous outside back today. We need him in the team. All he needs is time.

I don't think McKinnon would have looked anywhere near as good as Moltzen did today.

No, he would have looked better going on his current form.

He might be 60, before he gets his positioning and catching right. If he has not learnt to catch a ball at his age, how long are we going to watse time "teaching" him if that's possible?

wade is our FB for this season when fit.
he is as safe as drugs out there.
2nd is M. brown surely. He is a FB.

Moltz is good and i hope we find a place for him before we lose him. but i do not think he is before MB at the back.
And that being said said MB is wasted/helpless in the centres and wing. He is a full back.

hmm ive never seen glimpses of moltzen being an attacking. He'd be flat out cracking open a pinata

well he made a line break yesterday, had 7 tackle breaks (only Rhino did better from either side) and scored a try….. thats just yesterday.

Those that think Moltzen can't play and is a cat etc look at Bonstokers highlight package of moltzen, he is a very good player coming back from an injury....

MacKinnon 1st choice , Brown 2nd choice, Ryan 3rd choice, Meaney 4th choice ,5th Mullaney, 6th Moltzen .Why do people think because you scored a try that means you have played well :crazy

Happy, if moltz played like billy slater, Grahem Langlands and Gary Belcher rolled into 1, you'd still say he was rubbish, moltz had a good game at fullback, and has had many good games there….

not only did he score a try, he made a line break, broke 7 tackles, made a try saver on morris in the corner and ran the ball back reasonably well.

He was not brillant but he went ok, especially considering he spent the warm up at centre, difficult to prepare with that preparation.

do yourself a favour, grab a few games at randon from 2009 and the frst 5 of 2010, and remind yourself what a class player he is and why he was a Junior Kangaroo, and touted by some last year as an origin bolter.

I just rechecked the calendar Goose and its 2011 mate and what happened 2009 means nothing . I have issues with the fact he is still affected by his knee and he is way behind MacKinnon form wise , and Brown at least ( a few of the others were being mocking) . We need to worry about now ,not 2012 or 2009 and with MacKinnon possibly out for extended period Brown is the next best option at the moment . Sorry we are at a crucial part of the season and we can't afford to take risks with Moltzen now .Sorry forgot to add in Moltzen favour that was his best game at fullback so far , but was still nothing compared to MacKinnon

Dude yes he made a try saver, but also should of put gasnier in touch and his try was as easy as they get.Maybe the moltzen lovers should watch slater, gordon, boyd, gidley, hayne, gardner, wesser, campbell, bowen, dugan, coote, minichello, hohaiha, mackinnon, stewart, beale and barba and see how much better these guys are than timmy. :deadhorse:

I think if McKinnon is fit he is first choice, but Moltz is a talented player who has become the forum whipping boy, he cops it every week.

Don't dislike the boy but he is more a half back because he compliments the backline more than Lui at this stage . I reckon Rob Lui needs a few good games now back to back or he is on the edge of getting the boot . Maybe with Tuqiri and Ellis back we will see major improvements

Nah man that was Dwyer. Lucky he was there too as Moltz didnt get under Morris. Would have been a deadset try if not for Simons efforts.

I think you'll find most of those guys have had a lot more games at fullback than Moltzen has.
Personally I hope Moltzen doesn't play fullback and Brown gets a shot at it.
Do you think he is better than all of those you named?
If not then who is? Mullaney? Meaney?
It hasn't been Moltzen's fault we're not playing well.
Name me another team that lays the blame on a teams consistently poor performances on a centre or fullback?
If you want to know one reason we are not winning it's because our halfback is currently playing worse than any other half in the comp - and he's not playing out of position.

As good as he is, we need to start preparing for life after Mackinnon. His late withdrawals are extremely disruptive. Against Saints it meant that we had two players playing in different positions to those that they were preparing to play.

As painful as it is we need to bite the bullet and either; persevere with Moltzen at 1, annoint Brown or start grooming Mullaney or Meaney.

We can't afford to let fullback develop into our achillies heal.

I read the topic header and assumed someone was suggesting McKinnon warm up for his warm up like the Panthers did last night.

To prepare for the cold they warmed up on excercise bikes before the warmup to ensure that any risk to hamstings etc was greatly minimised

Exactly, it is extremely difficult to look good as an individual in a losing side. So Moltzen shouldn't be getting blamed week in, week out. If we were losing last year when Brown was playing fullback, people would've criticised about him not having an attacking game.
