The way I see it now is that at this stage if WT cannot make the decision due to internal politics / fan rivalries / whatever that NRL HQ should make the decision both in terms of short term and medium term with new grounds being built.

For me options both plus and minus exist for Campbelltown / Liverpool, Leichhardt, ANZ Stadium, Sydney Ground (still to be finished), Parramatta Stadium and even Concord Oval (if we are talking redevelopment).

If we cant sort it out, someone has too.

I think VLandy's could be pretty persuasive. He wants Liverpool built and probably won't get it over the line without us playing there along with the dogs.

The NSW Govt came out and explicitly said they will not pay for it.

Its not what I'm being told. I guess we'll see.

I cant find it but Gladys specifically said it in an interview. There is no money for it and no plans for money for it. Its not happening.

Wow....arent you the sanctimonious one? Try to keep up, but Ive been pretty clear that I USED to have a family friend on the board, but he is still involved in the club. Can you explain the relevance here?

I hate to be the one to tell you this.....actually thats not true at all, I enjoy educating people....politicians can lie all that they like, money talks. Did you read the article? The NSW Govt budget has $3M dollars for exploratory studies into Kogarah over the next 12 months. THere is exactly $0 in the budget for studies, design, research, construction, imagination into Liverpool or any other suburban grounds.

So it doesnt matter if you think Gladys is lying, if Im lying, if my family friends are lying...........they are doing nothing because they have allocated $0 to it.

Mate, all I said is what is going on with Liverpool. Why the hell would you get personal about it?

We got 14k yesterday for a team that is bottom 4. Imagine if we were actually competing for a top 4 spot. A 20k seat stadium is ridiculous, we would end up taken Sydney derby games to ANZ or SFS.

Of that 14k, half of them were Manly fans. It felt like being at a Manly home game. A lot of the Tigers supporters that I sat with at Bankwest before Covid have not returned.

I didn't really hear the Manly fans until the real Tigers showed up.

I wonder how many fans were walking out the exits after 50 minutes ....

Maybe thats what the club should be recording

Mate lots of people left early

Exactly ..maybe the board should be standing at every exit handing back refunds from their own bank accounts

Should be at the turnstiles charge them more to leave early. Could of made a fortune over the years.

The government would want us at the government owned stadiums.
More focus on fans utilising their new public transport strategy, light rail, western metro etc, to justify the spend there. More centric focus to sport and entertainment.
Why on earth would it spend money to build an exclusive stadium for one or two teams.

If Liverpool or any dedicated stadium gets built it’s because the clubs or PV and sponsorship have funded it.

It’s BankWest or SFS for us unfortunately but ultimately.

Yep, one home ground indeed. Make it Perth and end all this parochial, blinkered, self-serving rubbish that fills these posts.

lol

I'm serious

So am I

Yeah, fair enough. But I've come to the realisation (and I may be wrong, of course) that the Club, as it currently exists, is beyond repair.

Nobody can agree on why the NRL team are performing so badly, because nobody knows.

The decline in the performance and standing of the club is endemic of things beyond a new coach, a new staff, a new CEO, a new Chairperson, a new homeground in Sydney. Everybody offers opinions based on their biases and allegiances and all of it is both true and false at the same time. Nobody knows.

I'm sick of throwing my cash at a cause that is so, in equal parts, fragile, arrogant, unaccountable and embarrassing.

Enough is enough. Rip it apart and start again somewhere else.

Mate it will turn someday, I'm an eternal optimist lol

Yeah, I was too. Now I'm a pragmatist.

You weren't eternal then. lol

No, nothing is eternal. Including rugby league. V'Landys has screwed it and, more insulting to the traditions of the game, been ALLOWED to screw it in the name of $$ and media moguls.

So, in the V'Landys world of "nothing matters or stands for anything", I'll happily buy into the WA Tigers as my team.

Get rid of this shambles of Balmain RLFC, Wests RLFC, Benny Elias property deals gone sour, Wests Campbelltown contributing $0 to the NRL franchise, a mixture of "home" venues, an anonymous and unaccountable "board", a Chairperson who is a showpony whose kudos is built on the Aldi version of legal representation, a CEO who is oblivious to looking ridiculous, a fan base who can't agree on who the "good guys" and "bad guys " are.

The whole structure is shambolic. It has no future in its current entity. Rip it up, once and for all, and start again somewhere else.
[/QUOTE]

Even though I live in London now, Bankwest never looks like a home for us. It has Parramatta all over it. The team must go there and feel it to.
I would much rather have all home games at SFS with a couple of token games at Leichardt and Campbelltown if need be.
To be honest, I love Leichardt as much as the next person (loved playing there growing up for Dundas, Holy Cross and the Tigers) however the team for some reason struggle to get up for games there and at Campbelltown.
We need one home ground and stop being gypsies moving from place to place chasing corporate dollars.

There is no way the State government will build multiple boutique stadiums ...the money could be put towards in a few years to rebuild ANZ ...Who would want to go to Liverpool terrible train and bus services congested roads ! The government has spent billions on new transport infrastructure that incorporate the three large stadiums in the Sydney basin ... Liverpool /Kogarah don't think so.

Not being on the inside of anything I can only go on what this State Coalition Government has done in the past. Most funding goes to Coalition held seats. I really can't see that changing unless there is a change of NSW State Government.

I'm guessing the NRL are going to keep agitating about it. The one thing the NRL has very significant clout with are the SOO and GF, and where they are played annually. Worth a lot of money to state economies.

It would be the only way. I could not see the State Coalition Government volunteering the funds. They would have to be coerced into it.
