Ordinary game but gutsy win

Pretty ordinary game but a gutsy win. We looked terrible with the ball. It didnt help that we hardly got any decent penalties (We got 6…but 3 of them were in 1 minute, and another a nothing bpenalty early).

We defended bravely and thats good.

Without Galloway we had no go forward, but alot of that had to do with Gibbs, Heighno, Ellis and Fulton having to play 80 minutes and never having fresh forwards.

At this stage of the year its just important to wina nd we did that tonight.
 
On the road for the 2nd week, from Canberra to Townsville. They have a massive home ground advantage up there, Thurston or no Thurston. Gutsy win.
 
the last 2 weeks we have played alot of ordinary football.
but the result has been fantastic.
could have easily slipped back in the pack like we would previous years.
these 2 weeks away are what get you into finals footy when you are not at your best.

Absolutely agree.
 
The good teams win these ordinary games we certainly grinded it out tonight,we would have lost this game in the previous couple of seasons our fitness also really showed thru tonight. well done boys :righton:

Thats right! And two wins on the road inside of 7 days. Hard to complain about that.
 
If someone had offered us a 4-1 start for the first five rounds in January against the teams we have played and the travel we had in the last two weeks, you would have taken it with open arms and thought the bloke was joking.

I consider this an OUTSTANDING start to the season.

Could not agree more - and last year we would have been 2-3; chasing, instead of leading the pack. The mental side is important as it breeds confidence, a powerful force.

I think that today we were playing quite well with what we were given in the first half however when Thurston went off we switched off abit. I think we thought that already being up by 16 we knew it would be extremely unlikely that we would loose it from there and just relaxed abit. Not to worried about the way that we played in the second half at all and others have already said, VERY HAPPY to come away with the 2 points.

We've come away from two of the harder away games, back to back, with two wins. No complaints from me.
I bet the boys will get a huge lift running out onto the SFS next Friday with a huge home crowd behind them.
 
I think the best part about our win was our defence. Whilst it was not Parra game like, it was still fantatsic. If you look at their tries:
1\. Bolton - fumble of a kick after they couldn't crach us for over 45mins
2\. Tonga - a miss by Ayshford, but Tonga has been doign this reguarly lately.
3\. Watts - consolation try and a little dummy half fall over the line -these can go either way and the match was in the bag.

Other than that our defense was sensational, particuarly the first 5-6mins which set the scene with 3 straight sets on us and we come up trumps.

… Agree'd... our defense was brilliant first half...
And big KG back next week... cant wait...
