Origin halves

grrrrrrrrrr

With the incumbent s badly out of form combined with Reynolds injured and Pearce already proving ineffective plus hardly setting the world on fire. What are our options. Maybe Maloney. They never get a mention but I like Townsend from the warriors and sezer from the Gc. Pretty sure they are both nsw eligible coming from cronulla and parra jnrs.

Id be going with Pearce and Hodkinson. Both can tackle and wouldn't need so much protection from the back rowers and defence wins games. Both have a good kicking game as well. I'd prefer Maloney over Reynolds, he's more controlled. Bird could also slot into five-eighth and NSW could take another back rower

I also reckon Richards could be a real weapon in origin. Not fast anymore but his kicking game would give NSW something QLD don't. He's way better than Tupou in my opinion and with all the injuries to wingers I'd have him in there on a wing. His kick-offs could change the game.

With hayne gone ferguson Morris Morris and idris injured we are suffering a bit for outside backs. Dugan will go to fullback. After last series we would have been thinking
Fb- hayne
W- Morris
C-Morris
C-ferguson /Dugan
W- Jennings
Would have been big strong back line.

Our halves are a major concern .
My other concern is with the Morris brothers , getting themselves to some sort of form for Origin ? big Gamble if they are able to play.

Considering he wasnt named in City/Country…. Hodgkinson will be the NSW 7!

It looks like they are not sure on the 6 jumper, so everyone will get a Trial.

itll be the dogs halves.

and we'll lose because of it. maybe next year a reynolds and someone else good (not sure who) will be ready. keary is a cane toad by birth and choice but not eligibility so i dont think he'll ever be playing origin.

dont want to mention our halves and place pressure, but hopefully theyll get a shot within a few years when theyre ready (if they are).

Agree about Patty being in the team. Will add the X factor

The day Qld starts worrying about Kick-Offs, they will have some big problems?!

I'd say these 4 [below] are certainties, leaving 1 wing spot for Morris; Hopoate; Tupou; Roberts or McManus. There is also alot of talk Wighton is very highly regarded from Daley?

1\. Dugan
2\. Johnston
3\. Jennings
4\. Walker
5.

Good Luck… NSW will need it!

Doing very little but just going on the way Daley operates hopoate probably in the mix somewhere also.

with the doggies pair woefully out of form and pearce and maloney not much better i am surprised that aiden sezer has not rated a mention. he has plenty going for him in attack and is a reliable defender.
perhaps an out of left field combo of sezer / bird halves might be the go.

Big fail if we see Bird or Graham at #6
Eve Dugan shouldn't be there.

Who cares about the club footy stuff.
Put the best players in the position and see what happens.

IMO, for NSW;

6\. Mullen
7\. Pearce

LOL

God NSW have struggled with these halves positions for so long now! When was the last time NSW produced a truly decent Origin standard halves pairing - you'd have to go back to Johns & Barrett over a decade ago!

It's tragic really when you consider the long line of great halves the state has produced throughout rugby league history - Raudonikis, Smith, Sterling, Kenny, Johns, Mortimer, Daley, Stuart, Lamb and Fittler etc. Picking a good halfback or five eighth was never a problem, but now they seem to have all dried up. None of the names mentioned, in previous posts above, evoke any sort of excitement, I'm afraid. In fact, none of them probably would've even played in an Origin game if there was anyone decent available. I hope the drought breaks soon :frowning:
